Picked up this game a few months ago and have had a chance to play it pretty extensively now. I'm currently a level 191. Overall it's been a fairly fun experience, the game shows tons of potential but unfortunately I'm now convinced the games completely broken. I like a challenge and to mix things up so upon noticing most people using great weapons, I opted for the footman classes, specifically man at arms. I've probably used man at arms about 85%, poleman 10% and all other classes a combined 5%. After weeks in TO of often struggling to break top 1/3 leaderboard, trying my best to learn and get proficient at man at arms, I decided to mess around with the officer class again. When I did I was consistently breaking top 1/3 with little effort and have even broken top 3 a few times. It's wild how frankly OP the officer class is. Mid-swing parrying? Give me a break. You aren't granted such a crucial, undisclosed perk with one handed or even pole weapons, not even against other one handed or pole weapons. After experiencng that and also realizing the other classes, especially archer and footman are virtually pointless, I see how broken of a game Chivalry II really is. 💔 Really disappointing because like I said the game shows so much potential but at this point I'm strongly considering putting the game down altogether and waiting, hoping they fix the issues for Chivalry III. I mean am I missing something here? 🤔 Does anyone else think the two handed classes, especially the knight, are far too OP to the point the games even worth playing?

Plenty of good players topping the scoreboard with footman using sword or rapier. I myself play footman mostly using halberd and i usually top the scoreboard in terms of number of kills/takedowns. Classes with warhorns are easier to top the scoreboard if you use them at the right time for instant 500+ points

Mostly just console clown like myself that are addicted to the swings of big weapons. Partly tho cuz of the difficulty hitting jabs and overheads specifically against PC players since they seem to just ballerina around your attacks unless its a sideways swing. Level 300 rn after a year it’s my main complaint.

So that's what it's like playing with 4 ping. It's almost an entirely different game. There were times you missed with the spear by a mile and it still hit anyway. I've got so many clips of my weapons just going through enemies, or block success immediately followed by damage from someone right in front of me. The game is noticeably less fun than when it first came out because of these issues. Can only sit back and say "wtf" so many times before you get frustrated with the game.

Exactly this , whenever something like this happens see the dude that killed you will have 4 ping ... Either weapon went through him with no connection , or your counter didnt work and his parry somehow did ...

Today I realized some regions' servers are LAGGY AF. I selected EU West and it was terrible, my attacks were all going through opponents. Then I selected London and no issues.

It's kinda weird. I never choose the spear as my starting weapon because there's just something I don't prefer about them. But when I actually wind up with one in the midst of battle, I always enjoy using it. That's irony right?

Real life isn't a video game, you don't use a two handed 18ft pike like you use a 5ft one handed hewing spear and on-top of that, you also have completely different spear heads throughout history and time. Look at a Celtic or Greek spear head from the classical era, I have cut a pig down to the spine with one strike from it, it can cut. Trust me, you don't want to get cut by those things, you will die.

You can counter their “slash pokes” if you just use stab to counter, you do need an extra button for stab feint so you can stab then feint into another stab for good spear players

@@ace8099you high? A long stick with a sharp metal end is fucking perfect for side slashing and crowd control. Halberd and greatsword are way heavier and unwieldy in that regard. So it makes sense if they had a animation similar to the halberd just lower damage and no bonus damage against footmen and knights to emphasize the stab.

You can down an archer in one hit with the charge attack. Just have to wait with triggering it until they shot at you so you don't get interrupted.

I practice/compete in HEMA, and even in open-weapon tourneys, the spear users are considered Chady. This is because it’s an extremely safe weapon requiring little skill. Stay back and poke with no real risk at full range. Overall: Is it effective? Yes. Does it require a lot of skill? The correct answer is none. It’s also very boring both on the game and irl.
