Recently, we had a look at the 400kW HSV Clubsport - and some viewers said we should probably pay more attention to green cars…
So we did! And this one has 430kW.
Say hello to the 2016 HSV Gen-F2 GTS
So what is new on the GenF-2 GTS?
Not much.
The front bar has been revised and, like the Clubsport, the new lower lip integrates into side skirts that extend to the updated rear diffuser - which still houses the quad-tip bimodal exhaust.
There are new 20-inch forged wheel designs, new bonnet vents and a new colour option - but that's pretty much it.
It is still tough though - the supercharged LSA under the bonnet is carried over, as are the 6-piston AP-Racing callipers and 2-piece drilled rotors, there’s HSV’s torque vectoring system as well as three-stage magnetic ride control adjustment - and lets not forget the ‘super flow’ spoiler out the back
But, lets cut to the chase paying the best part of $100,000 for a 430kW, 740Nm, 6.2-litre, supercharged, Commodore isn’t what you’d call a sensible decision.
Sure it's big and comfy and generally a lot of car for the money, but the HSV Clubsport, or even the SS Commodore make a better power-to-dollar argument.
But that isn't what the GTS is about.
The GTS makes a statement - not necessarily to others but to yourself.
A little reminder that although life may be full of rules and responsibilities - with plenty of opportunity to be sensible… there should always be time for this...

The SS Redline Series II and the HSV range are the Jeckyl and Hyde of cars....will scoot around a Coles Supermarket car park doing the shopping, then jump onto a freeway and cruise in comfort arriving at Eastern Creek to put in a very decent lap time straight off the showroom floor.... Or you could go nuts and drop 175K on a 2019 Camaro ZL1....still HSV, but basically a race car for the street.

As to the comment about "where the big HSV really impresses is through the bends" I don't deny that... but for me it was the brakes... were much better than most muscle (read USA) cars. I live in/am a citizen of Taiwan... they were never sold here (I have driven one in Australia, not here). A pity because it almost happened for them being sold here with a Chevy badge about 16 years ago and then the Australian $ rose and they decided to not import them.... For me one of the two famous;y good yest still under-rated performance cars that is unfortunately now dead (the other is Lancia... never driven a Delta but did drive an even more obscure Dedra Integrale.. basically a Delta Integrale with a bit added on the back. very different to the HSV but also something I just want far more than a BMW, AMG etc).

Kw is the metric unit for Hp. so 430 kw is the equivalent to 576 hp.

+Jordan Hevesi There's no way ever that this car is value for money here in Aus. Not doubting it's performance figures & power output, it's up there with the best of them. But 100k? No fkn chance. Export it at this price maybe, but you're not going to sell it here. & it's available in an auto? Really? Come on mate, you'll never sell a sports bred car in auto for 100k, well not to me anyway. That's why it's labelled a "Commodore". Calais, SS, SSV, Redline, or HSV, dude they're all Commodores. Don't argue with me, the sales figures show it. That's why our auto manufacturers are shutting shop. These performance vehicles should be 20k to 30k lesser in RRP for us locals. This car at 70 - 75k would be a sell out here, they wouldn't last 2mins on the showroom floor at that price. However, at 100k, no way no chance. Not to mention the horrible after sales service, ongoing maintenance schedule, & the dodgy loopholes in the factory "warranty". Nah, no thanks. I'll leave this one for the purists.

+BigNVeiny the honda nsx is built to compete with the nissan gtr. So what the gtr is priced its around that. I did read the nsx is coming 2016, but knowing it may change so if say 2017. Yes it does cost about $150,000+. I dont think a modified holden commodore is worth $100,000. With 1990's pushrod v8 with big brakes. It looks great, but for that money id get the nsx or gtr, will turn more heads too.

***** Yeah, but the US spec looks no where near as good, nor does it have that engine lol. This has a more aerodynamic styling, more aggressive look, and a powerful engine. Not to mention it is practical as an every day car compared to the Camaro. Also the design for like the 2013 model looks wayyyy better than the US version.
