I believe the only thing that makes it a hunting rifle is that its chambered in 308. I been considering this for home defense as well as hog hunting

Where the *&^% have you been? My uncle and I, back in 92, created the7mm-08 "Berry Improved" through custom, Savage-LIke bolt action, fluted stainless barrels, with 1:12 to 1:8 twist, cryo dipped barrels...chronographed 3200fps. Barnes boat-tails (180gr.?) I quoted the better coefficiency of the 708, but alas, most state lack of cost effectiveness and still mantain the 6.5 as superior. The 7mm-08 as we were loading and recording, could take down any known land animal(.) Unertyl scopes. At that time, I believe there wasn't a round with a higher coefficency. (I KNOW ONE OF YOU CAN SPIT THE FACTS FROM MEMORY.) High Uinta Elk slapped the ground, dead on the spot as if legs jerked violently from neath them, 1989-1994. You are one of one whom I've witnessed bring this up re: AR instead of bolt...good eye!

Only on paper not real world applications...6.5 is legit simply because of the projectile....7mm08 would be a hood ar round none the less....I have both in bolts and 6.5 is not a gimmick...hornady eldx 143 grain put a Copenhagen tin size hole through a cow elk neck at 200 yards! I haven't shot the 7mm08 eldx.

@@tolt1776 so your admitting you haven’t shot the 7mm-08 YET you say the 6.5 is better. Wow ok. The 6.5 is only good as a paper puncher/ steel ringer past 500 yards. It’s NOT a good round for killing anything over a deer at those ranges. The 7mm-08 dominates the 6.5 in ANY category past 500 yards . The most important of those is energy delivered on target. If your into ethical killing of game. I cannot stand retards who shoot a elk at 700 yards with a 6.5 then stand around and suck each other’s cocks about what a great shot that was while the animal is stumbling around suffering not dead while a 7mm-08 with exact same shot placement would have killed the animal….
