When you run the backup forward, you need to roll it forward in a new clone, I suspect changing the datafile structure with new segments won't work for the relying databases which also have a changed extends map?

I haven't tried it, but I suspect so. It is not as feature complete as the standard pluggable clone facilities we have (but it is free :-))

kzbin.info/www/bejne/jJu2qpKtgtR8otE "and the only space it's going to be consumed is deltas" I remember there was a ZFSSA system on which we created thin database copies using Oracle Enterprise Manager Snap Clone. There were probably around 100 of clones and I was asked to take a look why those thin clones occupy 3TB. It turns out the control file was not amended properly and each thin clone occupied 30GB after its creation - that was the size of the redo logs. I don't recall that there were any issues with temporary tablespaces though - probably they were changed in the cloning scripts. Control files are also pretty small usually.

True - each clone will be (at least) the size of its redo logs.
