A great display of one of the most revolutionary tools used by railfans as part of their photographic arsenal. Great video and thanks for sharing.

My pleasure, I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Seeing this operation is one of the biggest reasons I got a drone, as it's something I've wanted to see for a long time and there's no way to get anywhere close to this area on the ground without trespassing!

I always thought the coal was unloaded through the bottom of the car. How wild to see them tip the whole car over!

Is this coal loaded onto ships or is there a customer on the old Lackawanna Steel site that uses it?
@mattygunn693 Жыл бұрын
It's loaded onto ships.

6:35 I know it uses gravity to move the cars, but how is this one moving in such a case? PS cool footage

I was just about to ask about that long shed that the red engine is sticking it's nose out of. If the tracks come out the other side. Watched the whole video before asking this time! Anyways, good stuff!

Thanks! It's an old coal thaw shed from when the steel mill and coke plant were still in operation.

Where does the coal normally go from there?

I think you got plenty of footage. I enjoy watching them dump that coal then push that car out and up the hump.

Thank you! I honestly don't think I could've gotten much more footage anyways, maybe filming another car being unloaded. Unfortunately fighting the headwind coming off the lake to fly over to the dumper used up about a quarter battery life. Damn wind! 😆 I do agree though, everything about this operation is amazing and I doubt I'll be getting old of anytime soon haha
