I am subscribed on the Growth Plan because I use it so much. It is a great value because I never feel like I am guessing on a product. It also helps me price things when I get custom requests. However, the free Hobby plan may be suitable if you don't plan on using it a lot.

It isn't too tough to figure out. Listings are only 20 cents. Have good pictures, and the title, description, and tags should include keywords that people would use if they were searching for your product. Watch some videos on Etsy SEO for more information on that. Good luck!

You have to give it more than a week. It can take a couple of months before things start to catch on. I started in April last year. I had 3 sales in May, then 10 in June and 10 in July. I was quite happy with that progress. In August, things really took off and I've been averaging close to 30 sales a month. I have a full time job and I make everything I sell. 30 sales in a month is a busy month. I had 60 in November and that was crazy. I added two new products at the beginning of January and they have not sold yet. They're getting views, though. That's a start. You have to be in it for the long haul. Etsy is not a get rich quick scheme.

It can definitely be difficult. I have an etsy site where I sell digital items and it takes time. I've watched a lot of videos on it and from what I can gather, your listings are boosted when you first create them to see if people have interest. If you can get some likes or sales early it really helps. Lower profit margins early on and ads can possibly help. Once people validate your product with those likes and sales it can help you naturally rank high. Watch some videos on Etsy SEO to learn more on this as I am still learning and not an expert in that area. I've never tried selling my creations on ebay. Maybe I should look into it. Shipping an item that large would be expensive.

You are right, shipping can end up being expensive. You have to find something that you can either build it into the price and offer free shipping or add it on at the end. I occasionally find items that offer free shipping and I wonder how they are making any money because their margins already seemed low. It doesn't necessarily mean it is a bad item to make but it may mean it is something you sell locally so you do not have to ship it. Thanks for watching!

​@@StoneAndTimberShopClassYes, in Australia it's not worth trying to sell anything hand made on Etsy anymore. The free shipping and low prices have killed us makers. Those items you show are nice but I wouldn't even bother trying to compete with those low prices unless you're happy to work your butt off for $5 an hour and spend half your week sanding and the other half the week packing items and answering emails. You'll make your local Post Office rich and Etsy but that's about it. Trust me I've tried it for over 20 years and it's harder now than ever to sell hand made online.
