I have a vx commadore that when u lock the car the alarm goes off ,whats the problem cant leave unlocked. but it happens sometimes, is it hard to fix

HPTuners has their own extremely annoying locking system. When HPTuners reads the ECU and detects a custom key, they then check if you have licensed that ECU. If that ECU has not been licensed, even with the correct key, it will display a message indicating "Locked by another tuner" and prevent you modifying the tune ect. Various tuners get around this by flashing in blank OS and calibrations to return key to stock value or use EFILives inbuilt feature to remove tuner lock after getting correct key. Hope that makes sense!

No, when your PCM is locked, you cant even flash it back to stock - not even a dealer can . You have to get a new unlocked PCM. Any tuner that locks the PCM should be told to screw, NEVER use a tuner that will brick your PCM.

Not quite right. Any locked ECU can have its locked removed. Both HPTuners an EFILive allow you to enter in the custom key (Password) to read/write to an ECU. HPTuners is a little more fiddly, since it will not allow you to view someone elses locked tune once read out, whereas EFILive does not care about that. To remove a lock in HPTuners, you need to open a tune file that YOU have licensed which is compatible with the ECU your using, and then perform a full write or VIN/Security write to remove the lock. If you do not have a compatible licensed file, you can download a stock file directly from HPTuners but you have to license it. In EFILive, you can select the security details tab, select remove tuner lock and set the ECU back to default. Removing the lock is always a FULL write. Once the custom lock is removed, the ECU can be read/written without the custom key anymore. All the above information has been kindly provided by fellow tuners whom have tested methods of wiping away the custom lock in shop. Hope that helps!

Can't I just get a memcal chip custom tuned and you won't need to worry about connecting a pc
