Goodness I’m not even half way thru this and I’m in love❤! You are on art fire! You have convinced me the exam paper is the way to go. I’ve always known and felt deeply about transparent layers being the thing I wanted to achieve and I believe I’m on my way! I’ll place the Amazon order next week so it will be there when I return from the lake. In the meantime I’ll do a little collating with some deli prints I did this week. This transparent collage technique allow for “auditioning” before committing to bold marks…love that! I’m so excited for you and by you! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

@MixedMediaArtByTrina6 ай бұрын
I use the matte medium in this video because I’m using acrylic ink. The ink on the Gelli plate beads up because it liquid. The medium helps to give to something to grip onto without beading. Thanks for watching! 😍

I love monotypes! Beautiful work. Had no idea golden liquid acrylic would work so well for printing. Quick question, what type of paper were you using for the transparent collaged elements in your composition? Vellum? Anyway your approach to print making without a press is right up my alley, I’ve got folios full of old stencils and bits and pieces for patterns. I’ve never done contact transfers with text though, although I tend to avoid it when making abstractions. Anyway, subbed, amazing work, really nicely composed, and a very generous peek into your process.

@MixedMediaArtByTrina6 ай бұрын
Make sure you are using an opaque paint in a thin even layer. I like Amsterdam Oxide Black. You also want to rub the back with light pressure for only 10-12 seconds. The longer it’s on the plate the more paint absorbs into the paper. Hope that helps. 😍
@rachelreeder93316 ай бұрын
You would probably like using wet strength tissue paper. It is strong enough to gelli print and becomes transparent with collage. Amazon. 😊

I’ve heard it’s great! The medical exam paper is what I’ve been using lately and it’s fantastic. Maybe when I finish the 125ft roll I’ll buy some wet tissue paper. Thanks! 😍

This is beautiful! I do have a question about transfering the type from the magazine page to the artwork. I am guessing the actual ink from the page is transferred. I make sure all my artwork is archival, meaning I use acid free products so browning of the artwork does not occur later. Is there any danger of transferring acidic chemicals through transferring text? The text adds beautiful texture. I would like to try it sometime.
@MixedMediaArtByTrina7 ай бұрын
Great question. Anytime you introduce ink you introduce an unknown to your work that could affect the archival nature. You could put down a layer of acrylic medium, transfer the text over that so it’s not applied directly on the paper. Since you’re using acrylic medium to transfer the text from the gelli plate it will seal it in. Sort of an acrylic medium text sandwich. Does that make sense? Let me know. 😍
@kathleenbolster18877 ай бұрын
Why do you wet the paper before applying it to the paper? Also, where did you get that funky plastic stone like stamp, I would really like to know if you be so kind? Lovely picture.
