Do you have a video explaining how to use filters on a map visualisation? I want to learn how to show different column values in one map. Thanks a lot for your channel!
@PowerBIBro5 ай бұрын
Thanks for reaching out and I'm glad the video is helpful! To confirm, are you wanting the end user to be able to select from different measures and them flow into your map... examples, maybe sales, profit, and units - you'd like the user to pick one of these. If so, the answer is to create a field parameter. Here's some documentation from Microsoft. I don't have a specific video on this but I do create them in my scatterplot video. If you watch that, you'll see how to create field parameters, then you can apply these to a map. This is a great question and thank you for asking it! Have you looked into the details of what's available in Azure Map reference layers? Below is an article with some detail, let me know if this helps point you in the right direction. learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-maps/power-bi-visual-add-reference-layer?tabs=upload

Hi Power BI Bro, I was looking to create a heat map with the Map Visual but in the visual settings there isn't a heat map button, should i enable anything to obtain it?
@PowerBIBro2 ай бұрын
Excellent question and thank you for reaching out!! A heat map is certainly possible, but it will only work on the Azure Map. If you check out the below article it should provide some additional details. learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-maps/power-bi-visual-add-heat-map-layer

Thx for sharing :-) How do you calculate longitude and latitude? Thx in advance!!!!! Greetings from Germany Christoph🙂
@PowerBIBro2 ай бұрын
Thanks for your support and your question? To confirm, are you wanting to visualize long and lat or are you trying to calculate the values? The values ‘coordinates’ themselves need to provided to PBI as a source vs calculate them. If your needing some additional help with visualizing them, the below web link may help! learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/visuals/power-bi-map-tips-and-tricks

Hey! Thank you for your video. I’m having an issue that you might be able to help with :) when trying to use the filled map for neighbourhoods in London, I does not recognise the gradient of color. It shows everything in the same color. Do you know what can be happening? I added a category to the neighbourhood field, checked the other numeric field used in the conditional.Everything seems to be ok. Not sure what I’m missing. Thank you in advance ☺️

Thank you for your question! You may have to use a more complex TopoJSON file. It's hard to diagnose for sure without seeing your dataset, but I think this may help. Here's a guide specifically for using the ShapeMap with London neighborhoods, hopefully this can help with some direction on the TopoJSON files. Thanks for the video. My company has sales territories that are not divided up cleanly between state lines. For example, we have two territories for Texas and three for Florida. We get our sales data broken out by territory, but I'm not seeing a way to create a map that divides the states according to the territory boundaries we have created. Is this possible? I have an internal map showing our territory breakdown, but it's a flat pdf file, so it doesn't correlate to anything interactive in PBI. Thanks again.

Love this question and thank you for sharing! There is a way to solve this, check out the latest video I just posted (link below). The July 2024 update included a Reference Layer update associated with Azure Maps. Essentially what you'll need to do is create a geojson or kml file which contains the boundaries of your territories. In the video below you can see that I do this same thing for Chicago neighborhoods. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nnqQhZeQnreem5I

@PowerBIBroАй бұрын
Great question and happy to hear you think the video is excellent! In order to utilize these features, your tenant admin who manages your PBI Service, needs to enable some Azure map settings. Check out this article below which provides more details and let me know if this helps! learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-maps/power-bi-visual-manage-access

I have a requirement in Power bi where i need to visualize states in Puerto Rico alongside states in USA, i am struggling to achieve this. Can you help point me in the right direction?
@PowerBIBro10 ай бұрын
Offhand, does Puerto Rico have states or municipalities? I don’t think it’s apples to apples with “states”. You so may consider using 2 maps, a filled map for the USA and a long.lat value for the Puerto Rico locations

A very informative tutorial. Thanks for posting this. But when replicating the map visual, I found a bug in the map visual showing the bubble for NYC. When drill down to NYC, the location for NYC bubble is no in NY state, but near Georgia, separated from all other city bubbles in NY state. I don't know what is the cause of the issue. Can you check the map visual and see whether you have the problem too.
@PowerBIBro6 ай бұрын
Thank you for sharing this comment! I took a look into it and it is most likely a data issue. If you look at the raw data, via creating a table with the columns 'State, Latitude, Longitude, Country, City'... filter to NY. You'll see there is a single Long/Lat (which may be the cause of the issue if it's incorrect).

I've postponed adopting the Azure map because the performance was terrible on my first few experiences. It took way too long to load vs the standard map. Hopefully that's been fixed.

Performance has improved from what I've seen. Please let me know how it goes for you after you try it out!

Hi, how can i use my pwn wtk polygons on powerbi default shape map?
@PowerBIBro9 күн бұрын
Hi thanks for your question! You can use your own polygons via "reference layers". The article below describes them in more detail below, however they are only supported on the Azure Map. learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-maps/power-bi-visual-add-reference-layer?tabs=upload Hope this helps direct you and let me know how it goes!

Yes it’s most likely a version issue, hopefully you are on a newer version :) If you go to the about menu in your Power Bi Desktop App, what month does it display for your version?

@PowerBIBro10 ай бұрын
Hi. There are a couple of different ways to solve this, I would start with focusing on levering the "Legend" field of the Azure Map. First update your dataset to include a 'calculated column', (not calculated measure) with has true/false "Has Offer" column for each row. Then... in Azure map, add geolocation field to Location, then the measure to size, and the new Has Offer field to Legend.

I can't figure out how to add layers to a map. I am using the ArcGIS map. I currently have each county colored based on my companies sales. Now I want to add a dot for each store that we have. We currently have about 800 stores. I would also like to add a division boundary overlay. Each division is made up from a group of counties. Thoughts?
@PowerBIBro7 ай бұрын
Hi! Great question and thank you for reaching out. ArgGIS map overlays are possible, however describing how to accurately implement them for your specific dataset is challenging. A great next step would be to check out the ArgGIS 365 layers documentation below, scanning through the various tabs of documentation as well. doc.arcgis.com/en/microsoft-365/latest/get-started/layers.htm
