What I love is that most company’s are “sell sell, up-sell” focused.. but not H&S, it genuinely feels like they just want to make sure everyone has a good painting experience first, rather than just pushing upgrades!! Better models. Refreshing to see in this world.. I’ll be lining my new workshop with h&s for sure!

Thank you very much. We are trying to build the company that we would always like to buy from. Part of that is our marketing approach. We believe that marketing starts prior to product development in the sense that we must detect what will make our customers' painting experience better, and then develop product TO THAT. Then, when we come to sell them, all we need to do is simply TELL THE TRUTH about why the product exists and the problems we designed it to solve. There is then no need for "selling", only telling the story of what benefits we tried to design to for your benefit. If we did our job well, then the story is compelling the solutions that we offer are real and valuable, and therefore ones that we can be proud to sell to you, and develop a partnership with you as a customer. Thanks very much for noticing and for commenting! W

Ordered an HS ultra just yesterday, upgrading from a $20 brush, for my birthday on the 28th of September. Pretty stoked to hear about an eventual upgrade path. I have massive respect for companies that engineer for reparability, parts interchangeability and made to last instead of engineering for profit margins. You guys are a beacon of light in an ocean of predatory products.

Oh man thanks so much for that. We like to play the Infinite game, not the finite one. We interpret that to mean that as long as we do everything we can to give excellent product and respectful marketing and development paths to our customers, that the health of our business will be stronger than we could have ever imagined due to the relationships that we build with this philosophy. It’s very intentional and it means a lot to us. Very happy that you can feel our intentions! Best regards and thank you for writing in. Warrick

@@harderairbrush Hi Warrick, I received the airbrush a week or so ago but only opened it yesterday, as that was my birthday. Unfortunately, when I took it out of the box and pulled uneven. I thought it might just be my imagination and went to plug it into the compressor .When I sprayed I saw that the paint release was delayed on the trigger. I tested this with IPA so it was not a problem of pressure/liquid thickness. I opened up the airbrush and made sure the needle was seated correctly but after that I had the opposite problem where airbrush leaked paint when pushing the trigger down only. I inspected the nozzle under a macro lens and saw that the rim was defective. You can see the damage marks on the needle aswel from being pushed past the abnormality. I assume in the factory it was pushed too far past the abnormality which caused it to seal but also cause the initial problem of the needle needing to be pulled further back to let liquid through. When I opened it up and pulled the needle back it must have bent the opening just a bit which cause the opposite problem. I've sent an email to info@harder-airbrush.de as I could only find a support phone number and I am from South Africa. As i'm not from europe I'm hoping there is a way to resolve this without it being a long drawn out process Thank you very much I appreciate the help greatly and I completely understand if you do not engage with support requestions on this channel, I was just really excited and now i'm a bit stressed by my past experiences of trying to resolve support requests in other countries.

Yes I really believe that having a product line that is structured to provide progression is a better solution than just lots of similar airbrushes which are not clearly for one purpose or another. All airbrushers paint small things whether they paint them into big things or small things, and so it makes much more sense to me to structure our product line in terms of progression rather than application. I have my Ultra now for almost a year and it is such a incredible support for priming and painting large areas for me. I just did not manage to make it work at detail work for me. Don't know if it is paint consistency/ air pressure or something else. But when I will be past that limitation, I will checkout if I switch parts for my Ultra or consider getting an Evolution. I admit, I'm still learning the proper dilution and use of the III setting on my ultra. and I finally think I'm getting there. I've used the Ultra for almost everything over my original airbrush to the point that I've done experiments of painting faces only using the airbrush. the idea of a slightly smaller cup sounds amazing as does the use of the head for a closer distance and the back flush for mixing paint in the cup. I love my Ultra and these upgrades sound amazing. going to keep practicing before updating the head and the cup. Still amazed that my mother got me the Ultra for my birthday. Again awesome news from you guys.

Hello, nice upgrade tutorial. I am about to purchase one of two airbrushes I considered, this Ultra 2024 and the iwata Eclipse cs. I can see many use the iwata, but I like going with the underdog, so I am buying this Ultra 2024. I cannot say I am an expert on airbrushing, I began last year using an old but new (from storage) Badger 200, and a Master G233. I mostly paint 1/48 scale model jets, and 1/24 cars, and I like a sorta wide spray pattern. I can't say I like the performances of these two current airbrushes, which is why I researched again, and find the engineering of this brush to be quite spectacular. I'm hoping it meets my painting requirements. Thx.

For back flowing my ultra 2024 I've been able to just loosen the head slightly, maybe an eighth or quarter turn at most, and then simply give it some air without pulling the trigger back. This can be a little aggressive and result in some paint splatter (especially since there is no lid available for the 5ml cup - something I'd love to see), so experiment with just some water and consider dialing down the air pressure a bit while doing so.

I love my Ultra. Just like many others, I upgraded from a cheap 50 buck airbrush from Amazon and the Ultra has been an amazing and unbelievable step up in quality and use. Small thing (which could be entirely my fault): I did need to replace the needle and nozzle assembly quite early. As far as I've been able to tell there was no needle bending (i'm careful with it) but for some reason it started to have difficulty with pushing paint through. Of course, I thin my paints / use airbrush paints and cleaned it thoroughly with airbrush cleaner and even alcohol and the cleaning kit but to no avail. I wasn't able to find the exact same nozzle that the Ultra comes with, so I eventually went and bought the 0.4mm Evo nozzle and needle kit which works wonders as well and is far easier to clean in my opinion as you can take it apart further. Anyway, great product and I love these videos! 10/10 would recommend.

@@harderairbrush Hey thanks for the reply! I do think I may have damaged the previous nozzle, but I wrote it down as a learning experience. So yeah, like I mentioned I bought the Evolution nozzle and needle kit and it works wonders! I'm very happy to see such parts be interchangeable and this video inspired me to think about if I want to change the trigger as well in the future. The softer feedback seems great for longer painting sessions (like priming and basecoating an entire army).

Great Thanks for your KZbin Channel and the Topis you cover. I have a question a bit off topic I havent seen til now coverd. H&S ist producing also a lot of couplings for Airbrushes and compressors. I use since years airbrush hoses with 4/6 er PVC hoses. They are a lot lighter and flexibler than the braided ones on my opinion. Question : As standard, when you buy ready confectioned airbrush PVC hoses the come on one end with a connector 1/8 for the compressor and on the airbrush side with a quick coupling (like the (104423 H&S Mini Quick Coupling NW 2.7 for 4/6 mm Clear PVC hose ). Since I want also to have a quick coupling on the compressor side instdead of the 1/8 what would be the better solution? a) using a "104064 H&S Plug for Quick coupling NW 2.7 + 1/8 inch ID CHROME" on the compressor and then do a hose with two "104423 H&S Mini Quick Coupling NW 2.7 for 4/6 mm Clear PVC hose" or b) using a Quick coupling with 1/8 on th compressor and do a whose with one "104423 H&S Mini Quick Coupling NW 2.7 for 4/6 mm Clear PVC hose" an one "104073 H&S Plug for Quick coupling NW 2.7 + 4/6 mm PVC connector" (for the Compressor side) ? I would apreciate if you could answer the question or do a whole vlog about connecting airbrush to compressor (including several airbrushes over distributors) etc.

@@MusicMinisterJP7 its the attachment you have on the Ultra behind the trigger. It can limit the backward movement depending on the setting you choose. I've had my first airbrush, Ultra 2024 for 8 months now and, sadly, the trigger mechanism is failing, and what seems to be a design/engineering issue. Specifically, the little lever that holds the trigger forward falls out of the grooves in the trigger it's supposed to slide in. As a result, not only can I pull the trigger without pushing it, but the trigger doesn't sit properly in the airbrush that seems to cause the paint coming out of the airbrush when the trigger is only pushed, not pulled. As a side note, original spring is really way too stiff. It takes a couple months to learn to control the trigger without the ring, at which time longer painting sessions become really tiring.
@czerskip
@czerskip 2 ай бұрын
Either way, I'm honestly disappointed with the purchase. I thought I did enough research, I trusted the brand and stellar reviews on YT, but just a few months in, the airbrush is broken due to what clearly is the manufacturing issue, and the hard spring makes long, precise work pretty much impossible. =(
@harderairbrush
@harderairbrush 2 ай бұрын
Hey buddy - thanks for writing in... Firstly, if paint is coming out when the trigger is pushed only, then you most likely have a damaged nozzle. Check that first please - it is not likely to be the trigger. If the trigger isn't sitting properly, I'd like to see a video/ picture of that so that I can help you better. Email me at wjs@harder-airbrush.de please... With regard to the spring... this was done this way, because our test groups found that the higher level of feedback during the learning phase was really useful to keep the front part of the trigger movement easily under control... For very fine detailing, and lots of it, you're right - the Ultra is not optimised for that. It's optimised to make a positive start for beginners. It will certainly deliver detail, like all our brushes, but it's optimised for the start of your painting journey. If you'd like to back off the spring tension and have an easier trigger, then I would say that you're ready to put an EVO trigger in there (712350) this gives you a lighter spring and a trigger which deletes the double action teaching feature, which allows this lighter spring. I look forward to your email. W

Ah I get you - you mean the needle cap. Yes, you can this this with the EVOLUTION 2024 head system. The ULTRA head system is designed to have the three H&S head characteristics i.e. you can see the needle, you can clean the needle, but the needle is always protected. The ULTRA interprets this with maximal protection, and this becomes lower as you progress up through the three models, up to the upcoming INFINITY 2024, where the protection is minimal, but the access is maximal. Hope that makes more sense for you now! W

The Ultra 2024 is a nice piece but unfortunately the hard spring makes it unusable if you want to do fine details or use it for longer than 10 minutes.

It's so hard to watch this guy, he's like my dad's secret twin without the Irish accent. Other than that, he really knows his shit.
