Excellent video, very concise and informative. I have been flying for some years and am now on my third drone. From my very first flight to my most recent I have never taken off from the ground or landed on it. I always hand launch and hand catch. I do find that with my Air 3 if you hold your hand out completely flat underneath it even in cinematic or normal mode the drone will pause but not for very long and then land on your hand. I wouldn't consider taking off or landing any other way since I feel it is infinitely safer for the drone and any PITA observers who will invariably come running over while I am landing and ask the standard questions. You know the ones: How fast can it go? How high can it go? How far can it go? Meanwhile they accidentally stand on it or God firbid it hits them in the face.

Hi, Nice video and good info. Now for the however I do the hand catch a little different. I take the time to go into the menu to turn off the obstacle avoidance. Yes I know that, as you said, sport mode turns it off, however I prefer cine mode to hand catch - smoother-slower motion of the drone, Air 2S here. Plus I bring it in to me sideways, nose(camera) to the right, better veiw of the props level. So park it in the air - go into the menu turn O A off - select cine mode - oreintate drone to the right and bring it down and in to my right hand. Most of the time the lady announces 'Landing ' and she turns off the drone in my hand. Each to their own. Oh and one more thing, neck lanyard for controller, gives you that third hand. Great channel here thanks.

Before taking off, decide for how to take the drone down! Standing in high grass, 2-3 feet, dusty beach, ....hand catching is the good only option. Agree to all You say even if taking off from the flat hand with fingers supporting the drone has worked out well. Hand catching.... The Mavic 3 pro provides, in safety/advanced settings, down to the last, an option to turn off the downward sensors. But Your method is much less fiddly. I'll test it on the Mavic! For the little Mini 3 pro the behaviour is like You described, "don't want landing....". I'll try sports mode on the Mini 3 too. One tip more could be: Don't grab the drone until the props are turned off. Else if might power up a bit. Also..... Place the drone to hover at a convinient altitude and distance before starting the landing sequence. Taking off from the roof of the car is often used! But not landing due to the rails and the radio antenna. Best tip given for a long time, watching numerous channels!
