Not related to this plant, but to Aglaonema- I find that the ones with whitish stalks do better in more light to use up any extra water before they root rot. I lost one due to root rot, but since moving them into more sun, the rest are doing quite well. Just thought I’d share my empirical observation. 😊

I’m so happy you did a video about this plant. I got one last year, and it was hard to find care videos about it. Your video on Schistosomiasis plants is what helped me actually. I don’t know a lot about plants/plant care but shortly after getting my Apoballis, I dug it out the pot and took off all the dirt, and I didn’t see any rhizomes (I’m thinking similar to what Calatheas and ZZ plants have). Mine was a bit larger than what you have there and the 4 or so parts were all growing from one clump connected to what seemed a thick stem thing under the soil. I agree that it loves being moist and doesn’t seem to mind my apartment’s dry air. I have it in a northeast window, and it’s loving it there. It keeps putting out new leaves, even though it’s winter, albeit at a slower pace than in the summer when I got it.

I have this plant and I lost all the leaves but I may have been underwater ing and low humidity. It hasn't died but it's starting over. I like the informative information because when I bought it, I couldn't find a lot about it.

Perfect timing! Been trying to rescue this plant for almost 4 months. Finally got one stalk to stabilize but have not been hopeful. Thanks Andrea! P.S. I got it with some kind of ste rot due to possibly overwatering at store, so we'll see how it goes trying NOT to root rot it 😢.

I have really struggled with this plant. I was giving it way too much light. It got spider mites... I think it's on the mend finally! Thanks for all the info. I need all the tips I can get with this one.

Thank you, I just bought this same plant in a small size that I went from a 4in to a 6 in pot. As the roots were crazy and the soil was soaked. I felt sorry for it. I too had a hard time finding anything on it. Right now it is under a grow light by itself. Its almost end of October.

Thank you for this video. I bought it from a big box store and it was sold as an agleonema but I couldn’t the care for it and realized it wasn’t. It’s growing well however for which I’m grateful. Thanks to you. Now at least I know what it is. I’ve been watching your care videos for a while now. I just love the way you explain everything. Gloria

Thank you for this video. I killed my plant as I gave it the wrong light and watering. I have another one coming. I will keep it in an area in my daily vision.

In regards with the plant looking sad and droopy, peace lily does the same when it wants water, on the other hand if you water it too early it will get root rot so not fun at all

Do u think that u experience gutation because of ur low humidity? None of my plants have gutation issues because my average ambient humidity is 85% all year round. I think because of ur low humidity, the plant is forced to excrete water from it's system to match the ambient humidity.
@AlohaPlantLife Жыл бұрын
Guttation happens when the plants need to expel excess water around their roots so I don’t think it’s a humidity issue.

@AlohaPlantLife Жыл бұрын
@@AhmadAsrafHashim I have my ones for sale in there and they behave the same as the ones in the rest of the house. I’ve gotten my watering dialed in to the point where I don’t have a huge problem with guttation on any of my alocasia anymore for the most part. The Schismatoglottis however apparently doesn’t think I’ve dialed in the watering to its liking yet or it’s just way more sensitive to guttation in the first place. I also realized the other day that I think that’s why Theo tries to chew on that plant more than any other plant in the house. I think it’s the fact that it’s dripping water off its leaves that’s attracting him to it.
