The idea of using an own server for SimpleX is great, only that personally I am still having a lot of difficulty with the iOS operating system, since when searching for a Tor in the Appstore, search engines (browsers) appear mostly, but not a specific app that is responsible for using the Tor mode for the app that I select. Suggestions are welcome.

Orbot is available on iOS and is currently working after being out of commission for quite a while. Honestly, if you're interested in digital sovereignty you're better off switching to CalyxOS Android. I made the switch after being on iOS forever & I'm never going back. Between Synology & Start9 servers, I host most of my own services now (photos was the big one, replaced by Synology Photos).

Connecting to my start9 server is impossible. I’ve tried it with an iPhone and an android. It will not connect. The server test fails every time.

Looks very nice and it will be awesome if the app continues to get development support. Unfortunately many of the normies that i know, don't even understand why they need privacy and why privacy is good for them. So it may take time for this app to be used from many people...

the client does, but this is also about using your own server, which you don't have to do.
