No money in improving people's longevity and overall health. Better everyone be diabetic, hypertensive, and headed for a stroke. Likewise, more money in having people be sarcopenic and osteoporotic. The nursing homes need to make money.

If insurance payed for gym memberships the equipment would be cheap, the hours would be crap and everyone would only be allowed in the gym by appointment and would only get 15 minutes at a time.

When I was young, i would always go to failure. This is one of the main reasons I could never be consistent. I've had 2 periods in my life where i got into fitness fro about 2 years both times. I never used to enjoy my workouts. I restarted gym again 8 months ago, and this time I'm equipped with much more knowledge from podcasts like this, Huberman Lab etc etc. I enjoy my workouts now.; go 3 to 4 times a week; with different varieties, intensity and routine. This is definitely the most balanced I've ever felt- in terms of fitness. Hoping to win the MAPS program too

Having used nitrous MANY times, I like the analogy, except the part where you said 20-30 hp increase. Most commonly, when using nitrous, you would add 100hp on the lower end. You could realistically spray 20-30 hp on a regular basis and would last a LONG time.

@ThePaigewieting

Depends on the person and what the goal is or needs are for said person. For someone dealing with insulin resistance or leptin resistance for that matter, it is wonderful…but they said not ideal for the average person which is true. We all “fast” overnight so we get some of the benefits anyways. But for a lot of people it does facilitate disordered patterns of eating. They didn’t say there isn’t a time and place for fasting because there is and they are aware of that.

I just want to say. I've been training like that for over a year. I am taking 7 days off. I had to drag myself out of the gym. I train 20-25 reps. 2 sets. If you are actually going to failure, sometimes you go to a different dimension. It's not for everyone or those with weak cardio.

Big pharma and the medical industry as a whole is such a joke. I feel like it's definitely not focused on my health and well-being, but more about how much money can be made off of me. And labeling obesity as a disease is going to create so many problems. I've already seen the horrors of alcohol and drug addiction in people that get gastric bypass surgery. Essentially replacing one addiction for a new addiction. This is one big reason why I started working out and losing weight and focusing on my health and fitness. The more in shape I can make my body the less time I hope to spend with those quacks at a medical office or hospital.

During the Shutdown of 2020 I would drive back and forth every week. I think it was either Nov 2020 or 2021. I was driving and I stop at a popular place called Eddie's World and there parking lot was packed of exotic cars from different states. Hot girls etc. As I was driving my beat up 2001 Nissan Pathfinder with paint chipping off. Aka Chick Magnet. I didn't know it was a thing until my boss who had a GTR at time. Said they do it every year. So there are runs like that.

I don't like the term training to failure it's a nonsense in my opinion. It's about gradually building your body not pushing to failure and there are studies that show training to failure does not provide many benefits. I tend to leave two reps in the tank per set but I make sure the weight is optimal.

So as far as the training to failure (which I do for most of my exercise’s) what should a person be more cognizant of? High reps or your time under tension? In my opinion a person should be more concentrated on having 40-60 sec of time under tension on you working set then higher reps. I like to stay in a 8-12 rep range with that minimum of TUT. It should also be mentioned that there is true failure and a sticking point. You can achieve true failure with assisted reps cause you’re always stronger in your eccentric motion, having a good training partner is paramount for going to TRUE failure. Lifting on your own and getting to a point where you can’t lift the bar again anymore is just a sticking point, not failure imo. Super setting and rest pause sets are good to use if you don’t have a partner to lift with. Just hitting a sticking point isn’t pushing yourself to failure.

Do you think it's better for me to use dumbbells instead of barbells for my chest exercises? I've never been a strong bencher but do fairly well with heavy dumbbells. I just feel the contraction so much more than with barbells. I've been lifting for 17 years and have never "focused" on my chest like I needed to. I thought it would develop by training everything equally. I've been doing your MAPs focus sessions for chest 2-3 times a week and so far, I feel great!

How do you feel about reversed, pyramid training then. I feel like you would get the best of both worlds. Your first set you get to train, heavy and low rep for strength, and then resting three minutes in between each set gradually lowering the weight upping the reps to get more and more hypertrophy

@amnesiaenigma1471 Жыл бұрын
Isn't there quite a few hypertrophic studies stating the reps don't really matter(so long as weight is more than 40% of your 1 rep max)as long as you're going to at least 3 reps or less to absolute failure?
@amberpiper4253
@amberpiper4253 Жыл бұрын
Question as a beginner here - what's the frequency we should factor in training until failure with higher reps? Strength training 3-4 days a week primarily for gaining muscle to boost metabolism and burn body fat. And a follow up - how many/which type of lifts should you train to failure? (e.g. one-two different lifts or the whole list planned that day). Thanks for the advice, appreciate what you guys do on the channel!
