I agree little quads are harder to fly. I can rip a 5" pretty well but a 3.5 I hate
@JohnSmith_13313 ай бұрын
IMO whoops are far and away the least forgiving. I've never flown a 5", but my 3 and 3.5 are both worlds easier to fly that my 65mm tinywhoop. Even my 2" is easier. Tinywhoops are generally twitchy and fall like a stone. It's basically like trying to fly a nervous brick, at least until you get the hang of it. I got a whoop first because everyone I saw said to learn that way. I crashed it a lot, hated it, shoved it into a drawer and regretted buying it for a year. Then my skills caught up to it and it's finally fun.
@BoundlessFPV4 ай бұрын
Keep going. You'll get to a point where you'll know really well what you can and can't get away with and the "can" portion of that will grow ever larger the more you practice. You'll start having really dynamic flights where you just kinda know that you won't crash and then you can decide what kind of flying is worth crashing over.

Yeah, been there, I used to have the BetaFPV literadio 2, it started drifting bad, I calibrated it, and it never worked properly again. I then got myself a Radiomaster Boxer, what a great radio. I gave away the BetaFPV literadio 2 to a friend to learn on Sims and get him hooked on FPV. Lately, I got a second radio, a Radiomaster Pocket, and it's an amazing piece of kit if you are flying proximity with low-power VTXs or if you have limited space in your backpack.

This is awesome. I've lost drones. A car drove over one after it flew away after arming and later that week my only other tiny whoop inexplicably died. I've also had a gimbals that broke and I could never get them calibrated again. I've since learned that when you calibrate gimbals you should only go up and down/left and right. You shouldn't spin them around in circles like how sims want you to do it. These videos are awesome. Keep making them and good luck.

Keep at it bro. The micros are brutal and can get frustrating but are great fun. My advice is get a sub 250g 3.5” you can fly them almost anywhere and they’re easier to learn. Do yourself a favour and stay out of angle/horizon mode, it teaches bad habits if your end goal is acro freestyle. Zorro is a great choice but battery is a bit shite, you can set a sim specific model and turn off the transmitter which will vastly improve the battery between charges when using the sim.

one tip I got from headz (infinity loop) on rate profile turning is make the rate to match you instead of training muscle memory. 1. Use controller in a flight sim of choice. 2. Close your eye to do half flips / full flips (pitch, roll, yaw). 3. Adjust the rate so when you open the eye the quad is exactly you want it to be. My key take away is that my roll and pitch rate is slightly different. but that adjustment made a world of difference.
@grannyfpv4 ай бұрын
i got it from a bardwell vid but same in essence. it actually turns out that that betafpv radio had false rates, or at least on the right stick. so my roll is much slower than I first thought 😀 feelin good and consistent now 😉

I felt absolutely out of control, all of the time Even when I didn't crash... LoL 😂. The absolute hardest part of learning to fly for me was finding rates that suited me. I went fast, i went slow, I did no expo, I did all the expo, the result just always felt "OFF" & I felt disgusted every time I watched one of the pros on KZbin. I thought.... 🤔 Do I just suck more than everyone else at this?! 😂😂😂 The answer is, No. We all suck terribly at first. It's not something that comes natural. Unfortunately. But hang in there mate! One day you will get it just right & it'll just lock in kinda. It'll feel better & you'll say to yourself, HEY, OK.. I CAN DEAL with this. 😊. Then the true learning begins. I’ve been getting 1S quads and parts for the past few months now. I think once you go to 5 inch and you fly for a while and then go back to micros, you come to really appreciate how agile you can be with a micro and really how aerobatic they are. You have a lot of control with micros. Keep your head held high. The 5 inch guys aren’t laughing at you, they actually think that the micro you have is pretty sweet. Even if you think it’s just a stupid toy because you’ve flown in 1 million times.

When I fried my Tinyhawk, one of the batteries got knocked out so the beeper also didn't work, this also caused a short circuit from the remaining battery. A neighborhood cat who loves to chase my drones led me to the crash site. I knew something was wrong when the cat wouldn't approach it. I could hear an electrical ticking sound and then saw smoke coming out of the bushes. Got back inside and realized my remote gimbal was broken too in the sim. It was a sad day. Which also occurred mid April

Can confirm UK has abysmal, rotten water, despite endless supply from sky.

Dude, I got the DJI Avata 2. I am into using FPV for inspection of my farmland, house gutters, etc... not the swoopy duppy stuff. Highly recommend it.

Same here, I started off on a TinyHawk and once it died the manufacturer had no more spare boards to fix it. I don't know enough about FPV to risk buying a different board that might not work. So I just got an Avata 2 with DJI care. I am starting to do some swoopy stuff though and it's really fun!

not sure how I ended up here but I'm glad i did! :) great vlog man! the learning curve with FPV is steep... it's also a kind of a gateway to other expensive hobbies like 3D printing and photography. but all the time you put in is worth it! your flying gets better, your soldering gets cleaner and repairs become less frequent.

Have you recalibrated your stick endpoints in betaflight? Probably better to just use that Zorro.
@grannyfpv4 ай бұрын
yep yep. was displaying the same characteristics in the sim though. yeah the zorro is going great so far 😁😁

@@grannyfpv For what it's worth, I've been flying whoops and micros for six years and I'm on the verge of rage-quitting at least once per year. The quality control in this hobby is just horrid across the board. Add in your own mistakes and accidents, and it can downright frustrating. I've had many instances where equipment issues was were affecting my ability to race and I wasn't aware, so it was hurting my confidence. Sometimes you just have to set it aside and cool down, come back to it later.

Yeah, I've lost 2 7" qwads. Both WITH a gopro and high quality builds. Both over $1000. Not to mention how many helis I've crashed over the past 15 years. And planes, and cars. It's part of it man. It's what makes the hobby rewarding.

that's a lotta money! RIP to all the lost quads out there
