The Unsellables - From Season 1 Episode 4 "Ruth": Ruth’s four-bedroom home has been on the market for two and a half months… And they haven’t received a single offer. The home is in a great location, and priced low for a hot market, says Sofie… But its cluttered interiors, heavy window coverings, and hot pink accents are a major turn-off. The busy and battered kitchen is also a liability. The house doesn’t need much work, she says, just a few minor refurbishments to let its best features shine through.
In order to appeal to a broader market, Sofie devises a two-day, $3,500 plan to de-clutter the house, neutralize the color scheme, and freshen up the kitchen and bedrooms. Ruth says she’s getting desperate to sell… But can Sofie get her to buy into the concept of staging? While Anthony and the team work their magic on the interiors, Ruth get a crash course in real estate 101. Will their efforts pay off? Or will Ruth get stuck with a mortgage she can’t afford?
The Unsellables - From dated décor and filthy interiors… to cluttered closets and messy bedrooms, The Unsellables tackles the most unsightly and ‘unsellable’ listings on the real estate market… And encourages desperate homeowners to get smart, let go of the past, and prepare for a sale.
Join property guru and British TV personality, Sofie Allsopp, and celebrity contractor Anthony Sayers, as they coach and cajole home sellers through a major clean-up and targeted makeover that will help them seal the deal. There’s plenty of drama and inspiration along the way. And lots of how-to tips for turning real estate lemons into lemonade.

When I get to the before & after views of each room, I always slow the video speed way down because otherwise it seems too quick of a glimpse to really take in all the changes

Tell the city, the date of filming and the price the property sold for.

I'd like to know what the property sold for. I'd also like to know the difference between what the house was valued at before the renovation and after.

I have bought and sold 3 houses now. Each time I put away anything personal, made sure it was very very clean. The 1st house sold first out of 5 houses on our street that were for sale. The 2nd sold $36, 000 over the asking price and it was a very small(900sq.ft.)house! The house we are in now is a much bigger and in a hot area so I am not looking forward to when we leave here. You just have to think of it as a business and not get emotional.

I saw a video once about living in Russia. The person showed a Russian thrift store. She said in Russia they do not sell statues, candle holders knick knacks etc. Only clothing, shoes and furniture. Thier apartments for regular people are small and they have to be efficient with space. No room for clutter. I thought that was interesting.

Good transformation the only thing I would have changed is the position of the kitchen cabinet's handles more to the side as modern kitchen have.

I thought about that, but then they will be left with 2 holes in the middle of the door where it is near impossible to hide.

It looks so old and the colors are awful . The dirty fish tank??? Now it looks fantastic!!!!!! Light colors and newer kitchen. When I sold mine I totally decluttered to almost empty. I staged it myself with the furniture that was there. I let in lots of light and painted some of the rooms with white paint. AND NOT THAT IT WAS DIRTY BUT I CLEANED IT LIKE CRAZY? IT SOLD RIGHT AWAY Zander it was an older home. Oh and of course I baked chocolate chip cookies. It smelled great!!!!!!!

Rewatching this one. Makes me cry to see that Portuguese tile covered in the kitchen. The rest looks good.

So three children slept in that twin bed and the parents in the king bed in one room? How was that possible? Traditionally, Romas sleep with the youngest child between them, starting when the baby is born. It feels safe and the parents can keep watch. But three in a bed is crazy.
