Unlocking the Secrets of Aberdeen's Most Haunted Jail | Shiver

The Tolbooth in Aberdeen, Scotland is a 17th century former jail which is now operated as a museum. It was built between 1616 and 1629 and is attached to Aberdeen Sheriff Court on the city centre’s Union Street. The museum contains exhibits of prison cells and various police and law and order related items. Its most famous prisoner was the 17th century ‘Fittie Witch’ Janet Walker. It also housed over 50 Jacobite prisoners after the Battle of Culloden. The building is claimed to be one of the most haunted buildings in Aberdeen and has been subject to many investigations.Yvette and the team take a look around the 14th-century tollbooth museum as they look for paranormal activity.

Shame the Most Haunted team, especially their buddy Fred Batt totally shafted Chris at the end of this series in 2009, leading to Chris exiting the show fairly quickly.

@@johnking5174 Fred Batt is the most useless “demonologist”, he brought nothing to the show. Chris was always my favorite medium, he seemed like a good person as well.

@@r0btech He brought money. Fred Batt is a millionaire business man, which a very large net worth. When Most Haunted returned to Really TV after a four year hiatus due to Sky axing their series, Really TV offered Karl and Yvette a different financial option. Living TV agreed a budget to be provided to Antix Productions to produce each series. Then Antix and Living TV shared the profit from ad revenue. Really TV chose to pay "per episode" Antix Production for each series. This meant Antix had to produce each series. Really TV management watched them, and decided how much to offer per episode, if Antix agreed. Which they had to, as they had no other broadcaster. Originally Really TV offered a quite decent £10,000 per episode. By the time of 2017 that had dropped to £5,000, especially after the bad publicity the show got from the 2015 Halloween Live event. This meant Antix needed a large financial backer to fund the production of each series - Fred Batt!!

@@iain9757 Most Haunted when it started on Living TV in Britain was excellent. Had a few bumps along the way, but Living TV had very large financial resources, and pumped millions of pounds into it. Their annual live events, especially the Halloween specials cost a fortune but brought in millions of viewers and millions in sponsorship and advertising revenue. I have found out that Most Haunted in 2007 brought in so much ad revenue and sponsorship, that it paid for itself and they had a large profit left over, most of that went to Karl and Yvette who owned it.

You might notice a change in the look of the "night vision cameras" for this season (Season 13 and 14) of Most Haunted - this was the last two seasons to be produced for Living TV in the UK, and by this point they had become lazy, so the night vision is not proper night vision - it is a filter used on the camera, and you might notice that they have left many of the lights on in the building. Up until Season 12 they were nearly always in the dark. This was the turning point in the series, when they felt they could get away with not being in the dark

One person who was held here was Gilly Duncan a young housemaid who started the North Berwick Witch Trials. Agnes Sampson was also held here before being convicted in that same set of trials amongst other accused and convicted witches. Gilly spent more than a year here before she was herself executed as a witch

She opened my eyes a bit more on what other types of creatures go bump in the night or day. She just thinks everything is baaad.
