While reproducing large breeds of any kind of animal, chickens in this case, keep in mind to select also for gentleness, as large roosters which are also aggressive can be a pain to deal with.

absolutely true but sometimes you find yourself choosing the lesser aggressive. I've found that the cornish cross run the gammot.

Cornish Cross Chickens can be bred with not a lot of work. You must select roosters with shorter legs and you must wait until six months to get the hens to start laying eggs. So open range feeding the hens along with feed restriction during the day will result in lighter hens who will then lay eggs after breeding with the short legged roosters. They aren't good mothers so incubation and hand rearing is the best option.

My roo seems to crow (or at least try to crow) the other day when i was sick and forgot to feed them (i feed them about 3 fistful feed for all four of them, roos and hens). The day after i got better (2 days i was sick) that particular roo doesn't try to crow anymore. So the question is, does limiting the food affects the sexual maturity for the Cornish x breeds? I want to make sure they reach their sexual maturity before confirming their breeding status.

Side note, by me not feeding them feeds, doesn't mean i let them starve, they go foraging and eat wild grass and bugs on the property.
