@Baked Goods Thank you so much for the UMA strategy guide! 🐸🐸🐸 I agree with most of the points, but I think discarding is slightly weaker than described and that weaker action gain attacks are slightly better based around the Deception mechanism. I find the timing on when you end up attacking into a deception makes or breaks a ton of the games I play and since a random discard could hit it and reset that potential I think most of the time it's a bad risk to take unless you're getting a significant additional benefit from that card play. I suppose that if the deck is pretty full you can play the "what are the odds?" game, but I've heard if you've asked that question then it's 100%. As far as small action gain attacks, I think they do need action gain to be effective, but you can kind of think of the enemy's "hand" to be all the cards it has in the deck before the deception. If you can run those out then they're out of "blocks" and with action gain you're more likely to attack into a deception. Yes, you'd prefer to hit harder against it, but I find any attack into a deception to be better than it being used on offense since I usually find myself wasting otherwise good defense cards into those attacks... Also you're favorite card does have one saving grace in UMA! The Loveland Frog has quite a few attacks for 1 and no heavy hitting attacks so a Regroup is actually a pretty good defense card as it has a pretty good chance of drawing 2 cards and no real chance of being punished for defending so low. Just another reason to love the frog! 🐸

One of the reasons I do love the 🐸 so much haha #RegroupForever I do agree with you about discards/action gainers. It’s hard to pin down exactly how valuable each is in the format because the difference between hitting a deception vs any other card is huge in both cases. 🐸❤️

A great aspect of UMA is that you can assemble teams of fighters that complement each other. Invisible Man alone might not be that good in UMA, but you could combine him with an aggressive fighter so one can soak up the heavy hits while the other takes the villain down. Such strategies were already part of the 2v2 format of course, but can now already be appreciated by just two players without the need for managing multiple heroes. Such strategy discussions now also extend to teams of three and four fighters as well. Looking forward to finding team compositions that really excel in this format. 🐸

Tesla and Muldoon to move enemies ojto muldoon's traps works great. So far we've only really played thematic teams like taking 4 heroes with lot's of sidekicks and really fill up teh board or playing with Bruce lee, Tesla and Houdini. I.e. the real people.

A UMA tier list will be hard to make, because I player UMA and multiplayer UMA play so differently. Beastform is viable attack at most any point in 1 player, it's really only an endgame in multiplayer. And that's just one example of the weirdness.

I’ve tried it solo but controlling multiple heroes and I find that fun as well! Feels more tense when the boss has more starting health

First time commenting! Woo woo! 🐸🐸🐸 I got into your content recently due to UMA reviving my love of this game! I’ve been playing a bunch of UMA with a friend but watching all of your stuff has made me wanna play more 1v1. I was worried you might not even cover UMA, or that you privately didn’t like it, because you’ve mentioned so much how the mind games are your favorite part of UM and UMA removes them completely! I’m so glad I was wrong! I’m thrilled to hear more of your thoughts! I think I mostly agree with everything stated in this one but I feel like I might evaluate discard higher than you do. Whether it’s right or wrong, I put a lot stock in the value of the knowledge gained from the discard.

Great video. I’ve been chomping at the bit for some adventures content and I knew there was a reason you are my favourite unmatched KZbinr 😀 One other thing I would add that is different to competitive is the extra importance of sidekicks as you can carry on playing as them even if your hero dies. Powerful sidekicks like Charlie can almost become heroes of their own! 🐸🐸🐸🐸 four frogs for how many turns he always ends up having against me

Thank you Dan! And great point! I often forget this rule due to how little 2v2 I play but the sidekicks remaining in play if the hero dies first is huge! Drusilla or the Jackalope staying alive can certainly swing the tide of battle back towards the heroes! 🐸

As it turns out, when the bad guy always comes straight at you and stands where you place him, and when every drusilla card is a scheme that clears doom counters and heals Spike 3, Spike is actually really, really good. As long as there's another hero that can handle sidekicks, Spike can do 12 to the mothman on mothman's turns, and fight decent combats on Spike's turn. 🐸

Small fighters are huge disadvantages against mothman. He has a card in his deck, where he deals a damage against adjacent fighters. So all the squirrels are dead. But the text doesn't end there, it says that for each damage dealt this way place a doom token. So all the doom tokens are on the board. And if you don't do anything about that. The game will end in 4 turns

Personally, I would only bring the squirrels in if I was using "The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl" for a free 4 damage. Otherwise, I would just use them to face tank all the minions while everybody else wails on the boss.

The thing with discards and cheap/bait atacks is mitigated with the event that forces the hoax on the bottom of the deck, that way the discards and bait attacks gets you closer to the big moment

I dont get the hype around this mode because it seems to me as very straightforward with little to no decisions to make, and also extremly easy. maybe with all the modifiers from amazing events its harder but in default mode it just goes down to "attack enemy until you see 0 defence and most of the time he wont reshuffle because is dead"

It's all about the cards. There is the boss + a minion per player and most of them have some way of getting more cards out of you, so, unlike normal Unmatched, you can expect someone to get hit multiple times a round. Sure, you can be hyper aggressive, but if you are attacking a ton and defending a ton, then where are you going to get cards? That is the biggest difficulty of this mode. Since it is on a timer, there is no "Oh no, I'm low on cards, let me just maneuver twice" option.

@peterlemaire7570 if you are all alone - maybe. But if you are in team you are gaining cards twice as fast as enemy (even if you just maneuver) So each round you choose someone to get all the hits - and others hit back. If two players focus 1 minion most of the time it takes 2 turns to kill it. So there is no puzzle at all - just someone suffers while others punch

Having a whole player just focusing on defending, you just won't have enough time or resources to win on anything but the lowest difficulty levels. There are also board effects that you have to manage and those also can cost cards

If Deception is ever discarded (or basically whenever it enters the discard pile for any reason) it triggers the reshuffle of enemy’s deck
