What I really love about Unmatched is that they clearly defined the time stamps when the card effects happen (instantly, during/after combat) plus gave an easy rule how to solve timing issues (defender goes first). I really appreciate that this is so simple and easy to follow, compared to other card games where timing is almost always an issue (Marvel Champions still missing an official timing chart for example and having so many trigger words which only makes you confused! ;-)).

This game is a redesign of the old Star Wars: Epic Duels -- a game I played a thousand times -- and I love every decision they've made with it. Turtling is no longer the best strategy, since once you run out of cards, there's no more, and you lose life if you need to draw but can't. The maps work much better (they were grids with chess like rules: movee like a rook, shoot like a queen moves, hit where a king could move), but now they're simply connected points, and each space is in one or more zones. My favorite mechanism: in the old game, you rolled a special die at the start of each turn that decided movement. Now, moving is one of the actions you can do, which also lets(/makes) you draw a card. And you can throw a card away to add to your movement, which means you can't ever for sure just run away forever like in the old game.

It really is an incredible system. Plays fast, a crazy amount of asymmetry in the characters but nothing seems too imbalanced, simple but nuanced rules. I hope this series thrives for years. I would love to see a tournament scene.

I own every box set of Unmatched. The ability to collect this game is fantastic. Personal favorite character is actually Invisible Man.

Yes to this! I don't care if I have never watched Buffy but I will definetly own it as well. Just the art makes it worthwhile.

I've got Robin Hood and the JP set. Love this game! Robin Hood and velociraptors are two of my favorite childhood characters and so getting to play them against each other is just a delight. I really recommend the smaller 2 player boards, not as easy to run away.

Unmatched is easily one of my favorite games right now. My favorite characters to play are Robin Hood, Sherlock Holmes, Invisible Man, and Robert Muldoon (Ingen).

I also really like selling a dueling game like that in pairs of characters. Don't know if I would've tried dice throne if I had to buy all 8 characters for $80, but picking up 2 for 20 was easy, and my wife and I wound up really enjoying it and buying more. Will have to check this out too.

The more I've played, the more I've enjoyed Sinbad, Robin Hood, and Bigfoot. Robin Hood and Bigfoot I almost didn't buy, but I'm glad I did. The two player map and the characters are both great.

Totally forgot I bought Robin Hood vs Bigfoot right before Pandemic hit! Great reminder to get it to the table. I played alot of Sinbad in trying the game out originally and love his powers.

« Who would win in a fight of Dracula against a velociraptor ? » That made me laugh so hard. Now I won’t be able to sleep until I know the answer
