Unmotivated

I think for a considerable part of 2023 I felt unmotivated to work on my own personal projects. No doubt, I spent a lot of time working on projects for other people but completely neglected putting my feelings and thoughts into my own work. This year, I made it a point to make sure I worked on more projects that made me think deeper about how I felt and the emotions that ran through my mind and to dissect why I felt that way in specific scenarios. This particular piece of work dives deeper into what it feels like when you feel unmotivated and uninspired to work on your craft and what it takes to overcome those hurdles. I think most of us have experienced the feeling of a burnout and how it can truly affect the way we perceive the work that we can’t seem to get ourselves to do. Having my mom involved in this project made the most sense because she knows exactly how to make me feel better when I go through those particular negative experiences in my own life. Her positive outlook on life is unmatched, and I am forever grateful for her. I would especially like to thank her for doing the voiceover with me, even though it took us several retakes. I shot this little film in June 2023 with my super talented friend Sonny Payne; he helped me throughout and also recorded his snippet of audio that you hear at the start alongside my other friends Amudha Pentek, Harshal Nikam, Louis Down, and Evelin Hutton. Ironically, I saw myself feeling unmotivated to put this project out as well, but I’ve made it a point to push myself this year.
