I was at the Oval yesterday for the last day of the test match. We were in a pretty good position at lunchtime. Then after lunch he comes on and bowls an absolutely brilliant spell and wins the match for India. I just have to hold my hands up and say he was far too good. The delivery to Bairstow was unplayable. Fair play. 👍👍

As Dravid had said, you need 20 wickets to win Test matches. The batters lay the foundation, but it's the bowlers, be it pacers or spinners, who do the job in the 4th innings when you're defending a total, or in the 3rd innings when they're trying to keep the target as low as possible. What an exceptional bowler who not only bowls non-negotiable bouncers with the ball in hand but eloquently delivers them using words as well. There are 9 home matches for India and India cannot afford to miss Ashwin at home. And after that, it is dependent on Ashwin's fitness and very likely that Ashwin will retire because he will be in his late 30s.
