Amidst the horrors of Auschwitz, Walter Rosenberg, a young Jewish prisoner, accomplished the unthinkable. Escaping the Nazis’ most notorious death camp with vital evidence in hand, Rosenberg revealed the atrocities of the camp to the world. From his harrowing journey of beatings and near-death experiences, to his meticulous documentation of Auschwitz, Walter’s story is one of unimaginable courage.
Later known as Rudolf Vrba, his detailed report revealed the grim reality of the Holocaust, saving lives and aiding in the pursuit of justice against Nazi war criminals.

I read about this in a book I found in a used bookstore. It was a collection of survival stories and this was one of them. Another story that was in it was a guy that escaped from a Russian gulag in Siberia. As soon as I heard about him hiding in the woodpile I remembered reading his story. He had nerves of steel.

What makes them interesting is that they are very remarkable stories of other Jewish people who fought against all odds to survive. In addition two of them involve Jewish revolts and escape attempts against the Nazis thus showing that even in those darkest times Jewish people found ways to fight back and escape. Yes I know You already made a video about Jewish resistance against the Nazis but people need to know that even in the concentration camps and killing centers Jewish people found ways to fight back and escape. Here are those video ideas. A video about Rudolph Reder who was one of the very few Jewish people who successfully escaped from the Belzec killing center. A video about the Sobibor revolt. A video about the Treblinka revolt.

True or otherwise I don't know but a story I read spoke of 2 who escaped Auschwitz, told their story to a young and influential Hungarian lawyer who couldn't get his head around such horrors, took them to his extensive wardrobe and said 'I have 28 of the finest shirts, how can I leave them all behind"? Soon after when deportations commenced he was on a train without his precious shirts.
