My favourite batman head sculpt to end all batman head sculpts is the DC Direct all star batman figure.. plucked that thing right off and it lives on my Mattel Dark knight returns figure with He-Mans battle axe 🤩 so cool !!

Something I apparently was oblivious about until getting it in hand is all those natural creases and texturing in the sculpt of the costume. When it comes to comic accurate figures (like spandex wearing superheroes), naturally we're used to smoothness. And normally that works perfectly, but in this case it just enhances the figure so much. I own a DC Direct one, a few Mattel ones, several One:12 versions...and Mafex (yet again) has made the definitive version of a character. If you want _the best_ DKR Batman, go with Mafex. No need for multiple wires to clip onto the cape and pose like the Mezco ones. *And please don't overpay by getting from BBTS and the like. Go with a Japanese company like AmiAmi or Amazon Japan. You'll save $20 or so; and faster shipping than the US, that's for damn sure.

I feel ya with the sentimental value with the Mezco DKR Batman. When I bought that initial black & grey one, I got it while hanging out with a friend at a comic book store that no longer exists. A very vivid memory of that, and how damn impressed I was with this new line from Mezco. In my opinion, still the best Batman figures by them. I think they're the only ones that don't have huge, disproportionate heads. But yeah, so strange that Mafex didn't include much...especially with what we got from the Hush one. And so far, the upcoming two don't include the pistol, rifle and grappling hook line.

Yeah definitely need this for the iconic poses like when he's crouch and soaring through the air. I love Mezco but it can't pull off these poses and the wire cape just puts this one over the top. No way to justify paying $400+ for the Mezco with this Mafex as an option.
