You’re absolutely right! Those billionaires in the $800 shirts spend their money on luxuries and conveniences like private chefs, nannies, security, etc. If coffee is your luxury, enjoy it without the guilt!!!!

Your 100% correct it's funny because people will say "oh look he's a billionaire and drives a Honda just like me" that maybe true but the mofo lives in a 37 million $ mansion.and has 8 million $ wrist watch collection. 😂🤣 people can't hold 2 thoughts at once I swear most don't see nuance or read through lines well Lol.just because he/she doesn't spend money on cars doesn't mean they don't blow money just everyone else.they just like anyone else choose to spend money on what they like.for instance if I were rich I wouldn't spend money on cars, planes jewelry but I love fragrances so that's something I'd spend quite a bit of money on.

Being frugal is good. Being cheap is bad. Just as an aside, I worked for a company that provided lunch. The cook was Ecuadorian, and she thought semi frozen fruit was a great treat. She would sit at my table and talk about it ad nauseum. Bless her heart. I hated it, but I ate it with a smile.

I saved over 50k in 4 years..this is after owning my vehicle. It doesn't just happen. It's a long term thing. Showing up, saving and yes saving does get boring but eventually you can do it. Yes, I watched a lot of Dave Ramsey just to keep myself motivated for this long term goal. After years it becomes a habit, second nature - you won't even have to think. There's no real answer because every situation is different. it's about discipline. I buy things with reason basically. I also made lifestyle changes but it wasn't very drastic. Only stressor is trying to find an affordable place. Id even settle for a town home honestly.

I love all of your unpopular finance opinions. I would add stop taking financial advice from people just because they are wealthy. Just because a person has money doesn’t mean they know how to make others wealthy. A person could come from money, get lucky, have a different lifestyle or background and because of that have amassed great wealth. That doesn’t mean they are an expert in wealth building. As a society we give a lot of credit to people that have it all and exalt them to guru expert status.

When they say “renting is throwing away money” when you need a roof over your head to thrive? A lot of rich people rent because homeownership can be a headache and it’s a lot of expenses with upkeep and maintenance. To each his own, but this dragging of renters for renting comes off as projection sometimes.

GREAT video! People need to remember that even when a mortgage is finally paid off the bills keep coming. You still have to pay taxes. You still have to pay the utility bills. You must keep your house maintained. Renters might not know that ONE window can cost over a thousand dollars! The longer you live in the house the more upkeep your house needs. Houses ARE money pits. Rents can be crazy expensive and seem to be increasing at crazy pace. Study every angle of costs of living before deciding to buy. TALK to people for true-life stories. PS Mark Zuckerberg can keep his $800 t-shirts. That's just stupid to pay that no matter who you are!

I agree with what you said about enjoying your money. I’ve implemented a windfall policy into my life. Anytime I receive a windfall I use my 1/3 1/3 1/3 plan. 1/3 goes to debt, 1/3 goes to savings, and 1/3 goes to spending. I found out that when I didn’t spend any of it I was miserable. You should enjoy some of your money even with this plan the majority of it is going to building wealth. And you still good to have some fun with it as well.

I completely agree about the mentality about emergency savings & budgeting.... Also I buy all my cars off craigslist & FB Marketplace, which is a good decision... However I am a little bit of an at-home mechanic, so I don't recommend it to anybody who doesn't know anything about cars or doesn't have space to work on a car at home. I bought my current car 2 years ago for $1k cash and have spent less than $2k on parts/repairs since then. No car note... My unpopular opinions: 1) Buy cars off FB Marketplace/Craigslist 2) Don't focus so much on budgeting, focus on saving 3) GO INTO DEBT if it is the correct decision for you!(law school, grad degree, property ownership) 4) get TF OFF social media...

Rent will ALWAYS go up. The main advantage of a home is being able to freeze your monthly payment for housing for as long as you pay on it. Just ask anyone you know in your city that owns a house for over 7 years how much their mortgage is… I quite sure it is lower than the average present day rent in that city.

Only 2 objections. The rest is how I really feel, too!🎉❤ 7. I think the best purchase is a car that is up to 5 years old. A well maintained vehicle with a few owners and no accidents is better financially than buying new. 8. I think that the reason why you didn't like the idea of an emergency fund is bc of the name. These are some interesting views. I don't agree with them all but, that's ok. My unpopular opinion is that buying in bulk is not good, especially if you have a small income. Yes, the unit cost is cheaper, but you have to put out a large portion of your income and it's not available for other expenses. Keep up the good work.

Budget works to maintain more of what you have. You can still budget on the things you want and still maintain what you have. If one wants more money they need to execute an idea and go after it. For example, I want a second job and is executing it. Point blank.

Disagree on home ownership. It’s a long term investment. In most cases homes will appreciate over time. I have bought lived in and sold 2 homes and made money on both when I sold. Also the equity can be reinvested in the home to increase the value. As long as you make a smart purchase it is an asset.

I LOVE this video. I disagree with home as not-asset. You can leverage the asset at any time to create a business line of credit at better rates. The inherited house provided generational security that created the middle class. Black people got left out of this because banks wouldn't lend them money nd realtors redlined them. I didn't mean to go down this dark path I'm sorry.

I rather spend money on good eating , healthy food then spending over $500 for a name brand bag or even tons of money on makeup. I ain’t going to look Hot on the outside with my insides being truly healthy ! Food for thought !!!

I love credit cards too. I feel like I've hacked the system and put everything on autopay. It's money I would have been spending anyway and I love that extra few hundred dollars per year.

My home is an asset, yep I’m not paying rent or someone else’s mortgage. Rent goes up every single year. It’s a necessity, I need a place to live to lay my head.
