The argument in favor of Iniesta is not the trophies n accolades cause u can justify the numbers either way...but modric built on an existing template of midfield style of play, whereas Iniesta inherited a playing style n turned it into another art form of its own - so Iniesta is in that category of few players who added n brought a new flavor to the game...modric is an A grade legend, but Iniesta was different - as they say there are levels to greatness as well...

I disagree with UCL point cuz by the no.of matches played in world cup is less than nations league but to qualify for world cup is much harder so winning world cup is the biggest achievement. Same can be said for qualifying for UCL and winning it.

luka modric has been improving year by year and has become a legend for madrid and croatia. being able to play football at this level at this age is incredible.He has definitely come a long way and established himself as one of the best. But Iniesta and Xavi were on a different level. Their understanding of the game was different . They understood football as time and space . They were always the one who dominated the ball for 90 mins no matter whom they played against .

Modric ki longetivity reason hai why he's bein compared to Iniesta. People highlight how modric is balling at 35 and Iniesta left Europe at 34. But people don't mention modric was also a late bloomer while iniesta was balling since his first team debut. Just a counterpoint to that modric balling at 36. Modric has done a lot for Madrid and Croatia but he is no 10 player but Iniesta did way beyond being a no 8, winning Tournaments by showing his individual best when it mattered the most. He won World Cup and Champions league by scoring goals and that is a rare from midfielder and not being a 10..

Tbh very few players are loved by rivals. Iniesta is the best example of it. I loved it. Even as a madrid fan seeing him sit on field after his last game at camp nou was sad. Modric was also loved by many. But yeh winning ballondor got him some hate. Hands down Iniesta > modric.

You forgot that Iniesta came from spain and not only that he came from a academy which we know are one of best. Also the football culture where Iniesta started to learn football is different than modric. Modric came from a country which never considered as a football country. The culture also is not there. But coming from there and learn football in a way that in 22 he will be compared with one of the goat in midfielder Inesta makes modric a goat himself. We sometimes forgot the country or academy perspective sometimes. The academy or culture enhanced greatness inside aa footballer. But opinion will be obviously nither of them is better than other. No hate to suarez , but why people consider SUAREZ better than LEWA? LEWA has far far far better number than suarez . I know playing for bayern give you that extra edge , but the amount of goal Lewa have is just commendable , and moreover lewa also proved himself in UCL , he has better than SUAREZ in UCL where all the great team compete for glory. My unpopular opinion : Pep Guardiola inheriting a great squad the biggest myth. 3 years without a trophy. . 18 points behind Real Madrid in 2007/08 season. 4th in the league. had to play Qualification playoff to play 08/09 UCL Ronaldinho had a heavy dip in form, busy partying wasn't found in gym/training (said by club officials and former players not me) almost like wise for etoh too Messi Xavi Iniesta werent even half of the players they Pep made them. . Messi had just started becoming a regular Busquets and Pedro were in the youth team.
