I thought I wanted locs until I learned its a permanent (long term) style. I love looking at loc journeys. My unpopular opinion is if we can get by with minimal products on locs maybe we can get by with minimal products on loose hair. I think there are some loose 4c naturals out there who have learned how to make their routines as easy as those with locs. Do we really have to twist or braid or curl or slather our hair in gel for it to be considered decent? The afro is my favorite stlyle. I just need to figure out a way to minimize tangling.

Yes! I agree if I could’ve found something where I didn’t have to use so many products just for one style to only last so long I may have experienced less frustration with my loose hair. Also, that’s true, wearing it in its natural state such as an Afro seems better and minimal work! It’s definitely all about embracing what we like the best and like you said not having to do the most to achieve a specific “look” with our natural hair.

I know that's right. I had a huge afro before I got my locs five months ago and I don't miss it. It was a lot to handle, even braiding it to wear a wig. When it was shorter, it was better to manage but I didn't wanna cut my hair again. I love my starter locs and I'll never go back.

I don’t miss it either! I wish I had got locs sooner really, because like you said it’s a lot to handle and care for so much time and effort. Gota continue to embrace the loc journey 😁

Loose natural hair is most definitely overrated. I was loose natural for 9 years. Been braid locd since July 2021. I installed them myself, and maintain them myself. My hair has cost me exactly $15 for the last 8 months. Lol and that was just the interloc tools. I’m NEVER going back. Ima be at my funeral LOCD up 💯

Yes!! It’s definitely worth making that change, especially because we saving money it’s nothing compared to what’s spent with loose natural hair. I’m never going back either, not at the funeral 😂😭 but girllll periodt.

Caring for my loose natural hair is my self care. I enjoy it. And I do not do all of that stuff you mentioned lol but it's all about life style and preference. I don't care for the way locs look personally or the fact that it's permanent. So it's all about what works for each person.

Love this for you! Agreed every person's preference is different, it's all about what you like for yourself that's what truly matters.

'To each their own', but after a week I'd want to unravel the locs and drag a comb through my hair and scalp, it's not for me.

😂😂 you’re like it’s a no for me. I understand, definitely everyone has their own preference and what works best for them!

While thus does sound like a complaint about loose natural hair, past that you did point out that being a loose natural takes time and work and not everyone is willing to sacrifice that. Natural hair can be expensive 😂. Been loose for 7 years and I'm seriously considering locs. Being loose for me has been a journey, it's been fun-ish. I definitely grew it out and cared for it and that was a part time job in itself. 7 years in and I finally started going to a natural hair stylist. I usually rock a twist out and keep it pushing if I don't have knotless braids. Part of my problem is it's hard being in my part of the south and finding a good, long-time, trust worthy natural hair stylist that does everything I want them to do. I love my natural hair but the reason I am interested in locs is because of the "low maintenance, wake up and go, etc" life style it offers because I am already a lazy natural.

Great video. Your sisterlocks are looking great! Again, the best decision I made. This April will be 6 yrs SL'd. I look at my loose natural style pics and wanna hide. Not for everyone and definitely wasn't for me and I can say I tried. Keep up the great videos. 👍🏽

I just want to say thank you for the videos. I wish I saw yours before I got mine done. Started Feb 10 , 2022 of this month. I am not feeling them all the time but watching your videos and other fine low density hair streamers makes me feel a little better and I just need to trust the process. I feel like I keep saying that just to keep my cool. I Just cant wait till the end of the year where my hair will have a big difference to it.

🥲🥲❤️. Thanks so much for watching! I’m glad that my videos help you feel better about the process. I felt the same way at first I wasn’t too hype about them but then i would say maybe the third or fourth month I became more confident in having them. It’s truly about patience and knowing they end up typically looking cute lol. But yes I hope at the end of the year you love them, goodluck on your journey! ☺️

I've been a loose natural for 10 years and I'm so tired. I hate that I spend all this time doing ny hair, go outside, and bam...15 minutes later my kinks are like "Gotcha!!!" 😂 I have a loc consult this week. I'm almost 50 years old and i just don't have the time or energy for all this natural loose hate anymore. Locs, here I come! 😊

Lol this is hilarious! EXACTLY! The time saved not doing hair is worth it. I hope you like your locs and enjoy the journey! It may or may not be what you think at first but it's worth it! 😁

I love locs but I just find more versatility in loose natural hair. When my hair is long and healthy enough I might get some traditional locs in the future 🤗.

Yes I get that, most people that I’ve talked to about locs the main reason they won’t get them is because they don’t feel they’re versatile enough especially in the aspect of styling. But yess definitely consider it! 😁

I'm at a crossroad trying to decide and this video definitely helped to make up my mind. My loose natural is a handful and I can't manage it myself. I'm also a 4C and to be honest all that product buying and researching can be daunting 😥. Thank you for this. I'm getting them locd asap!

I totally agree with loose natural hair being over rated. Im in the process of SLing my hip length hair. The time it takes to wash and detangle had gotten to be too much for me. I wasn't able to enjoy all the length I have because of the aftermath of wearing my hair free.
