I dont care what anyone says, this still has the very raw feel of what the core of unprocessed was in its earliest albums. In my opinion its all there, but with some evolved and enhanced flavor sprinkled and caked on top. Yes it is a different sound, but I think the raw core of this band is still well intact. I think you'd be a fool to deny it.

I find it so inspiring that the MIDI pad has gone from only a backing track effect piped in through a USB plugged into a soundboard, to somewhat on the side or background of a stage as an auxiliary instrument, to a front of stage integral part of bands. Logically, it takes as much skill to manipulate, in real time, a MIDI pad and keep everything on tempo as it does most other instruments. Sure, dinking large squares on a flat surface is easier than the articulations of single strings on a guitar or hitting toms/cymbals/snares/kicks in perfect tempo....but still. The euphony a skilled MIDI pad artist can bring to a band is near limitless.

Ok wow just finished browsing the comments and I just want to say: When Polyphia switched from metal to edm hip hop influenced prog, tons of people shit on them, then they became more popular than they probably ever would have been. When Taylor Swift switched from country to pop, it was met with similar reception. Don’t let all the haters get to you. Diverting expectations and not catering to anyone is how wheels get reinvented. Keep on innovating. This is amazing. Fuck the haters.

@@tamamakiiti587 I hope you feel smart after that comment. Not to put words in the OPs mouth, but I think probably what they meant was it could just as easily be a recording of light rain landing on the ground, medium wind blowing rustling leaves, the few remaining songbirds whistling, the crows cawing, some cows mooing, and some goats maaaah'ing. This song is flirting with cacophony the entire time.

It is beautiful, I reckon some fans will go because of the abrupt style change from the last album, but a lot more will be gained. And, if we're patient, who knows maybe we will get some harder stuff with more BASS and growls. This is after all, the first offering. Makes me curious as to what's to come.
@nikolas_navarro4 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! It's unfortunate that most people just won't give it a chance. I personally love both phases and see the general context as maturity taking place and not necessarily just a style change, just like what happened with BMTH and Polyphia and it's bound to hit Architects as well. Even though, yes, arguably it's not Metal anymore, it's very new style of Rock that is good for the next few years to come and, who knows, make it relevant on the mainstream again.
@l.gaines54364 жыл бұрын
@@nikolas_navarro yesss... they are no doubt going to introduce people to djent and progressive metal, inadvertently. People were complaining about "Real" in the same way, but because Real had a bit of RnB and Funk, it reached more ears than maybe it would have without, thereby gaining new listeners who will no doubt check out the earlier stuff and may well get into the prog metal/djent genres. These dudes are broadening and opening up doors for the movement. They know what they're doing 😍
@trinen4 жыл бұрын
Couldn't agree more. I actually feel sorry for those of the old fans who are not willing or able to appreciate their latest material, cos they're missing out.
