Great to see you again, Vinod! Hope you were having a nice holiday and weren't ill. Another very useful lesson. Thank you. I'll just go and get my throat gargle before I start practicing all those guttural sounds. 😀

Thanks Stephen, I appreciate you. I took a little break from recording new lessons.

The most difficult aspect of learning Dutch, for an English speaker, is the gutteral 'ch'/'g', and most particularly the fiendish 'sch'. When you mentioned 'kuiken', that had me reaching for my dictionary as, to me, that sounds like 'keuken'. In my opinion, a Dutch learner shouldn't worry too much about pronunciation, as long as they can be understood. If someone told me that they wanted to speak Dutch exactly like a Dutch person, I'd have to ask 'Which Dutch person?' as I've heard that there's over 200 dialects of Dutch spoken in the Netherlands.

I agree Hamish! Most important is to speak the language and the one you speak to understands you. The actual accent is the lowest priority in learning any language. I just thought this is a fun topic to cover. Also, you are right that there are numerous accents/ dialects. Every city even has their own 'tongue'.
