Agreed, it would be crime to cover up that beautiful ebony with big fret dots. Looking good.

Those frets are something else - they really pop and shine against the dark fingerboard. He's going to be a lucky customer Daniel!

I scalloped 3 necks in my time myself including my super rare Ibanez JEM BSB from the 12th to 24th fret some people would say I’m mad but how deep your scallops were looked a bit bonkers to me a light scallop is just the same the more wood you take away you get that brrrr sensation sliding up the string when you hit them super deep scallops but your work is sensational mate good job

I'm working on a jazz bass for my dad... I'm not a luthier but a hobbyist ...i noticed your neck stock was really thick...is thos because its a lamination? Or just personal preference...the neck blank i got is only .75" ...didn't know if I'm missing something...besides..not putting the finger board on.. lol great video sir!

Great to see you building again. I thought you would use that awesome new drum sander to level off the blank? I found it does a great job with body, neck, and fretboard blanks for that.
@UnquendorGuitars
@UnquendorGuitars Жыл бұрын
Hi R.L. Lynch. Thank you. I hadn't stopped building, just altered my upload schedule a bit. I used the sander to thickness the neck blank (not in the video though) but I needed 1 reference surface of the blank to be true, level, straight and square to the center line. Unfortunately without a planer I still need to do that by hand, but the sander makes the rest much easier.

Super nice work Daniel! You have a huge amount of patience cutting inlay. Especially with such a long name and the big swooping part. Absolutely beautiful. I like to do my fret pressing before carving the neck so I have a solid flat block in the press. I find neck rests very fiddly. Any video you make I watch. More talking, less talking I don't care. watching you build guitars is great.

Dear Daniel, nice new format ! It's more dynamic. But videos with more detailed explanations are very instructive too. So, if you can keep a mix between both formats, it would be great. Anyway, your guitars are awesome and keep going !

Always nice to see your build, such a great work! I have a question, maybe I've missed, but what can you say about wooden inlays, for example ebony fingerboard with rosewood inlays, or dark ebony fingerboard with light ebony enlays? Will the differ between wood material have consequences with a look of fingerboard in the future?

Only because you asked and keep in mind that my opinion should matter very little to you. I like the format of the video. I could do without the background music or maybe just a lot quieter. I'd prefer to hear the machine and hand tool sounds. Again, my opinion is just that. I'm going to watch regardless.

Hi Michael, Thank you for your feedback. KZbin for some reason seems to somehow 'boost' music volume and although I keep this in mind while editing, sometimes it still is to loud after uploading. Luckily there is a volume control in the KZbin player but unfortunately this means other sounds might get lost. I'll keep your feedback in mind.

If the client wants jumbo frets then I don't understand why he also wants the upper frets scalloped. Seems to be overkill. Great job Daniel as always.
@UnquendorGuitars
@UnquendorGuitars Жыл бұрын
Hi XGCPolaris, Thank you. The Jumbo frets and scallop might be a bit overkill, but it doesn't hurt the guitar design or playability. Sometimes a feature like a scallop can help with the mindset of a player to help them play better / more confident wether it's 100% useful or not.
