So at 19:24 you ask what an absinthe spoon is used for. In the Victorian era (and probably before and after) you would place the spoon on top of the glass and then a sugar cube on top of that, then pour the absinthe on the sugarcube so it filtered through the sugar and became sweeter

This is super late, but another fun and elaborate way some people prepared absinthe (presumably for stronger variants, or if you just wanted a weaker version, or just because it looks fancier) would be using a water dripper! It's basically a big glass container with a tap on it, like you still see today, which you'd place the glass under so that the water would drip onto the cube and into the glass. You can also find absinthe glasses which have a little thing at the bottom, sometimes just a marker in the glass and sometimes a bulb or similar thing, which measures how much absinthe you should pour into the glass. They look really cool and you can see how people would sit around them waiting for their drink to finish :) Just in case there's anyone who finds absinthe preparation methods fun hahaha

@@MaccyCheezeAs sad as it is, it makes sense. GTLive uploads a video about once per 3 days. Just Cube Escape could easily be 3 weeks of the channel dedicated solely to Rusty Lake. The series gets less views than other videos, and additionally if you upload only one type of content for too long, the KZbin algorithm can falsely narrow your channel into being about one thing, which means it will recommend your channel to fewer people, a fact MatPat has brought up before. Our best bet is for him to play the majority Cube Escape on his own time and then maybe Hotel, Roots, Samsara, etc. on the channel (spaced out by a few weeks for the algorithm’s pleasure). We do know he plays thing off stream a lot for theories, so I wouldn’t call it off yet.

For The Lake: if you use the magnet a THIRD time, you get a second locked box that requires you to put in a different code from the one that gives you the blue gemstone. Basically, it says at the top “remember the seasons” and obviously means that you have to look for a clue not in this game, but in the one first released with it, Cube Escape: Seasons, and the code comes from Summer 1971 when you look into the telescope to see the numbers 1487 to unlock the safe and get the shrimp, and using that code will give you a GREEN gemstone as well as a message at the top: CU-S TV 2-5-6-4-1, which you can then use in Fall 1971 of Cube Escape: Seasons by entering the numbers into the TV, resulting in a video of Laura (The Woman and protagonist of both Seasons and The Lake) taking a picture with a camera and the achievement “Young Laura”. The green gemstone, if used instead of the blue one (still in the same spot), will give you the achievement “The Pentagon” and when you face the Corrupted Soul (the black humanoid entity that kills you at the lake canonically) it will be destroyed by the force of the pentagon and leave a black cube behind that will do nothing but take you to the end of the game after clicked. Spider-Man 2099 wouldn’t be happy with this change of events, but the point of Cube Escape is to change your past, as seen with Seasons and Birthday, so The Pentagon is just leading you to the good ending.

All the Cube Escape games (except Paradox) were playable online as Flash games. That’s actually how I discovered the series. Also, I wasn’t watching the whole time so I don’t know if you did, but if you keep fishing with the magnet you’ll get another lockbox which unlocks with the code from _Seasons_ Summer, giving you an Emerald which you can use in place of the Diamond, repelling the Corrupted Soul and changing your Fate, giving you the second ending. Many of the games have multiple endings.

I really really hope you continue streaming these! I understand it’s a lot of games to get through, but even if you can’t play them all, I sincerely hope you do research behind the scenes, as what you are seeing right now is a very small piece of a much larger picture. I’ve been waiting 7 years for you to pick up the game, and it’s been amazing to see you enjoying its gameplay and surreal tone, and I think you would enjoy theorizing about it even more! The best way I can describe why the lore is special is that it feels it was designed as a story first, with meticulous attention to themes (esp. of mental illness imo) and world building, whereas other indie horror games and FNAF by the 3rd installment felt like they were including cryptic lore just to say they had cryptic lore (but not to tell a story). I just really hope you give this a chance, and though I know that the first video you correctly speak to how hard it is to jump into theorizing, there are great resources to catch you up to speed (videos and wiki fandoms) and a lack of big theorists shedding light on this gem, so there’s definitely room to innovate and theorize.

PLEASE continue the Rusty Lake series! I absolutely adore Rusty Lake and trust me--- you have not even scratched the surface! And you are correct that the cube escape series were orirginally escape room flash games! I think they were originally free and playable on the website. The Cube Escape Collection is all of the games remastered and bundled into one, since Flash is no longer supported. The series is also very accessible, as walkthroughs of each game are posted on the Rusty Lake KZbin channel
