Hello Ben! Thank you so much for taking your time to play and make a video on my game! I was sooo excited throughout the whole video just watching someone actually playing my game, it was absolutely a pleasure :) Just some things that I want to note: Is first of all, I don't want to take all of the credits for the map design, all of the credits go to the original creators of Begone. I just did my best to recreate it as accurately as possible. (And just added some of my own "Touch" here and there) I'm sorry about the teammate AI, I had some problems with my pc and had to format it... And in the process, some of my Begone 2.0 files got corrupted (Absolutely my fault, I did not backup my project with Github or any other backup site) including the player code, enemy AI's and teammate AI code. So to save me some time for other things I decided to not bother with the teammate AI code, and so I removed him from the game. But I absolutely get what you are saying about the "cozy" feeling and in the next version, I will rework his code and hopefully make him better. (As you can see at 6:31 he wasn't perfect and would get stuck sometimes) On the controllability part, there is manual reload, you just need to press "R". Sorry I forgot to add that to the read text file. There is no crouching because I didn't see any use for it in the map, but it's something I will add later on. And toggle was in the previous version as well :) About the gun clipping through the walls, it's a problem that I'm still trying to find a way to fix. I had thought about your solution before, where when you get too close to a wall it will play an animation of holding the gun upwards. The problem is I think it will be annoying for the player that every time he touches a wall it will play an animation, So I tried looking at what other games like Call of Duty and Rainbow Six Siege do, and you can see when you get too close to a wall there is some sort of an illusion where the gun seems super small against the wall. I have no idea how they are accomplishing that effect (Maybe I'm just tripping lol) but I'm still looking for solutions. And that's it, thank you for noticing the little things like the alignment in the shop menu, the endless running and to let the player go on the water. There are a lot more things that I want to thank you for and to talk about, but I think I wrote enough :D Anyways thank you so much once again, it has been a pleasure for me watching you play my game. Have an Awesome day!

I’m glad you enjoyed the vid, Stefan! Regarding the level design: I actually checked out Begone after making the video and found this very map in the original game. That explains the near perfect deathmatch map - but at least you learn a lot of good practices by recreating like this, which will be immensely valuable when you actually start designing your own levels. Yeah, I figured there was a reload-button - guess I should’ve tried «r», but didn’t even think of it since you didn’t mention it in the Read Me, hah. All good, then. But oh yes, crouching is verrry important, indeed, as it makes the player a smaller target - And also, the bots were crouching a lot, so it felt kind of unfair that I couldn’t do it, hehe. I see the problem with the wall clipping. Maybe I’ll do some research one day and create a tut for it. Fixing the shop text alignment might be as easy as simply increasing the width of the weapon boxes. Again, thanks for the game submission, and even though it took a year for me to create the vid, I’m glad it did, cuz then we got to see the new version as well. If you ever create your own, original game project - don’t hesitate to send it over :)

Stefan Nikolich if your reading this, how do you make an AI that shoots???
@sntfon1006 жыл бұрын
In a simplified way, you can use OnPawnSensing and cast to a character you want the AI to be able to detect (The Object pin from the casting needs to be connected to the Pawn pin from the OnPawnSensing). After the casting, you just call a line trace by channel, spawn a muzzle flash and sound fx (if you want to) and that's it. There are more things that go into it but this is just a very simplified way of doing so. You can also search for some tutorials about it, there are countless of good tutorials about AI's. I can link you some if you need :)

Judging this purely based on gameplay and not graphics. What he has done so far looks great. Plays good and judging by the improvement between the versions in time he will make it great. If he got someone to do new visuals for him it would elevate it a whole lot.

Agreed :)

Thank you so much! I might try to find someone to help me with the visuals side, but for now I'm trying to do as much as possible by myself :)

I totally get wanting to do it yourself. It's just that as gameplay get more refined it will be held back by lackluster visuals. Just a thought that it could serve you well to put some time off to just focus on visuals for some time to get it to the same level as the gameplay. Just some personal feedback, nothing against your work :)

Oh no it's all good! I have no problem with some criticism, I absolutely get what you are saying, and I will surely take some time to focus more on the visuals side! Thank you for the feedback! and excuse me for a bit late response :)

Sound: Awesome but way to low volume even at full volume. Music: I like the music its great! Overall: Awesome game. I was wondering if you could add a multiplayer option to it????
