omg this is insane, when unreal 5 came out I went to the USGS and downloaded the log/lat of my area and failed when the heightmape wasn't 1/1, this is amazing

Nice so with this it will be more performant and increase fps just like adding high poly meshes that are nanite? How do you specifically fix the stretching on the cliffs, do a remesh using the ue tools? Thanks

I think it will be also will have no LOD popping in the distance

Yes but you will have to rebuild the Nanite after

Yes add a new layer then sculpt

I guess any additional layer will decrease performance. Are there some metrics on this? Is there a cvar to show the landscape performance? Or is there an option to show performance (draw call, etc) of the selected mesh?

After converting my landscape to nanite it turned completely black, it appears nanite landscapes are still incompatible with landscape layer blends. Is this still the case? I see some other comments talking about it but they are months old now and I just wanted to make sure this is indeed why I'm getting a black landscape and not some other reason.

Yes but haven't tried 5.2 yet don't know what has been changed in that. I know they are using it in fortnite so maybe in the future

The shadows issue fixed when I set Max LOD to 0

Yes I think it may only be compatible with certain materials or it’s a bug

have you assigned a weighted blend Layer info ,to your landscape material in Lnadscape MODE

It might be what Dannan said but converting my landscape to nanite broke the material link so I had to reapply the material.

Whats the point of low poly nanite? I feel like most people dont understand nanite at all.

There is right now not a point for low poly. What makes it good though is you do not have to create multiple LODs for the object

Massive dense scenes, rather than empty high quality scenes. Otherwise, why use it on fortnite?

My landscape turns black after converting to nanite. Tried rebuilding everything but not sure what else it could be.

Hey, having an issue when enabling nanite on my landscape, crashes the whole engine, brand new project. Not sure what the limitations are for this, but I'm using a size 8129x8129. Anyone have any ideas?

Hey! Did you figure out a way to use layered landscape material (where you can paint different materials in Landscape editing mode) with a nanite mesh? I guess that isn't possible right as the landscape has been converted to static meshes internally by nanite?

Right now not much except you will not notice LOD popping

Cool, i used a website to grab both the height and the satelite data, i wonder can one use a regular sculpted high resolution decimated piece of terrain as a nanite and will it perform well, it would be nice to add more details in Zbrush then decimate it and have overhands, otherwise i'll have to use props for that.

Right now all you can do is convert it. Hopefully in the future we will have more control

@@AaronFhd Thanks for responding, created my map at 2k rez but scaled it up twice for gameplay and it feels like it needs more polygons, I am character artist I've only done a few terrains, so i think most details come from textures and props so not sure if i should increase the resolution for sculpting.

Is this world partition landscape, if not, does nanite work with world partition

This is a not world partition but I believe it does work for that aswell

@@LohkareGames Curious what results you've had. I've sort of gotten it to work but I'm running out of memory before all of the components are able to save so only a quarter of my world partition is nanite lol.

I'm surprised people don't get it yet that nanite is junk. Just be ENABLING nanite you lose more than 60fps. Even if you save some FPS after than , you will nevel reach the performance of a non-natite project.

Right just like with anything you have to be careful but who knows what epic will be doing in future versions

Yes, I agree, however if you think about production of 3D-Models, you dont have to take care anymore about differen LOD-Versions, so for a small gaming studio it is getting cheaper
