Excellent! Perfect timing! I am in the middle of creating something similar using Daz Characters and clothing and glad to see I approached it very similarly. I was trying to figure out how to display the clothing items in the selection like you just did with the body parts though (prototyped the UI with Next and Previous buttons for each clothing type and it works just not ideal as you don't see a preview.) Relatively new to Unreal Engine but this solves a few things I was going to have to research as it also solves some questions I had about creating character information UIs and inventories. Should be relatively easy to implement into my current design as I'm already using a structure and data table for all of the clothing items.

would you be able to add the ability to modify textures (or swap to different textures) of the swapped body parts with this system? for example if i wanted to change the shape of the eyes or the color of the shoes. or would you recommend I just have those as different meshes?

For this system I would just have them be different meshes, I know it's possible to use morph targets to adjust how models look although I have not created a system like that yet

Probably not, UE5 is basically the same as UE4 it's just upgraded and has some features
