Unreal Engine 5 for Beginners: How to Export MP4 Video in 4 Easy Steps

Hey there! In this KZbin video, I'll show you how to export a simple cinematic scene as an MP4 video in Unreal Engine 5. First, we'll enable the Movie Render Queue plugin by going to 'Window - Cinematics' and selecting it. If you don't have this option, don't worry, I'll guide you through enabling it. Once the plugin is activated, we'll open the Movie Render Queue and select our sequence created with Sequencer. I just watched a TWO HOUR plus video of a guy placing assets in a scene, there was MAYBE ten minutes of actual useful tips in it. There is no way I'm going to remember where those few tips were to go back and reference. I just watched all 27 of your tip videos and learned WAY more in a fraction of the time. Followed your tutorial and the Movie Render goes through the motion. The status bar runs the frames count up and nothing in the directory. ??? Sorted ... What isnt obvious in the tutorial is that you still need the JPG still generator for the line encoder to make the Mp4 it seems redundant until I experimented.

For people who have audio included in their sequence. Make sure to add the ".wav Audio" option from the Setting menu where you find the "Command Line Encoder".

@@brettalizer3271 I followed the tutorial and in the end, I had a great render, however, my sound did not export. To get that out of Unreal too, I just clicked on the "+ Setting" button that you can see at 2:35 and picked the .wav Audio option so that I would have audio exported as well.

Note. if you get "....Unknown encoder 'AAC'.." message and not hearing audio in mp4, try writing the audio codec in lower case ('aac') in project settings (Movie Pipeline CLI Encoder) *also, while adding the comman line setting, add also Audio setting. :)

@@ronaldolamontat 0:50 you can see [.wav audio], it's above the selected command line encoder., you cab add it after adding the command line encoder that's shown in video. ...IDK if other ways to get sound working, but worked for me

@@rahieitee there is actually an additional step to get the audio out (as you mention @0:50 ). The + in front of setup will add more things to your video... as the wav from the sequencer. All in all, I feel that I should, at least, buy you guys a beer! Let me know when passing by!

Thank you very much ! With MP4, my renders are always in 25fps, is there a way to export in 30fps and 60fps ? (changing the frame rate in the sequence or in movie render queue will only change the duration and speed of my final result, not the FPS always at 25).

After setting up the sequencer and exporting as a video (I am using Movie Render Queue), the player character (he is on scene as blueprint third person character) does not show up in the exported video, while in the sequencer it does. How come? Is there something I am missing?

Try checking if your player character blueprint has "Hidden in Game" unchecked in the details panel. Sometimes, that setting can affect the visibility in the exported video. Give it a shot and let me know if it helps!

I found that it's better to render using image sequences and only do this MP4 for very short videos/previews (350 frames max) and they have to be in .jpg for the MP4 to work but image sequences can be any image format.@@romainr7574

It's possible there might be a typo or a formatting error in your command line. Try double-checking your command and make sure there are no typos or misplaced characters. Also, confirm that the input file path is correct
