Labas Gediminas. Thank you for this wonderful video. I am glad that I found your channel. For the future tutorials I would suggest focusing on the UI part as well especially for material selection for example you press a key it opens the menu and then you can select material for X mesh.

Hi Gediminas, I figured out that if you select the StaticMeshesActor(s) in the Outliner, right click and browse to asset instead of going to Detail tab and browse to Content Browser, it will select automatically all the actors in the Content browser, then if you drop the actors in the DoorBP blueprint in one time the coordinates will be much more relative to each other and it will be easier to adjust the location of them. It get a kind of self reference together. Maybe I was just lucky, I don't know...
@DesignGoBrr
@DesignGoBrr 7 ай бұрын
Yup, that's a good point! The only issue is that the offset from the 0,0,0 coordinate also transfers. Which is excellent if you need that offset and really annoying if you don't. But all in all - I think I prefer your method more.
@BenjaminFossati
@BenjaminFossati 7 ай бұрын
@@DesignGoBrr Yes, offset coordinates is always a problem. In all softwares :) In Rhino I always attach a red point at the place of the reference point and bring it to front in all my blocks before to export it, so i know exactly where the base point is. Thank you for your content! You are the best. Today i will continue to follow carefully your course, I take notes of every step as i am a newbie in UE. Hey GediminasI, thank you for your many contributions! I I am a visual artist and also a 3D artist. I would like to start freelancing in the architectural visualization (archviz) world. I have acquired the necessary 3D skills using various software, but I am still apprehensive about approaching real architecture projects with clients since I do not have a background in architecture. I don't know where to start, and sometimes I feel discouraged about whether I can do it. I have a couple of questions, and I would be very happy if you could help me: -Do I need to learn AutoCAD, Rhino, Revit and SketchUp? Or is it sufficient to know how to import/export files from those programs? -Do I need a library of 3D models? Which ones would I most likely need? Would clients provide me with the models, or should I also create them? -What architectural knowledge is essential? How can I get rid of my fear? Good news is that my sister is almost an architect, and I'm not sure if I can involve her in my business, but it might be a good idea to have her as an advisor.
@DesignGoBrr
@DesignGoBrr 11 ай бұрын
Hi Sergio, you do not need a background in architecture to do archviz as you will not be designing anything - instead searching for most aesthetically pleasing visual representations of already designed spaces/forms. Being able to operate in the software that the architects use is always a benefit, but not a necessity. Importing/cleaning up can be done with your software of choice. Yes, you definitely need a library of 3D models. I'd suggest simply purchasing them from 3D model marketplaces for every project. The architecture offices usually do not provide any (usable) 3D models, but instead have a pretty detailed product list of actual furniture that you need to find a 3D model of (or something that has very similar style). If anything similar cannot be found - then you'll be modeling it (invoice the client separately for this, and have a clause about it in your contract). No architectural knowledge is needed - archviz is all about photography, not about designing. (Some 3D landscaping usually needs to be done though, as architectural landscapes are usually very low resolution due to limited picket point measurements). In terms of getting rid of your fear - I can't suggest anything - I have never felt fear about trying to start up some project so I have no idea what it's like. After your sister has worked in an arch company for a year or so - she'll be able to give you suggestions as to what architects are looking for in the renders. Which parts are more important than others and so on.

Making advanced courses is tricky because of two reasons: 1. I don't have enough knowledge/experience to pull it off. 2. Advanced stuff is usually super focused on a one, single, very specific thing, so it would make sense to do series of tutorials rather than one big course.

Very hard to define what "strong machine" is. I'd say anything below 16GB of RAM and RTX2060 will not handle 1080p archviz projects properly (unless you limit the complexity by not using folloage scattering, PCG and so on)

Hy there Gediminas! First of all I wanted to thank you for all the knowledge you give in your tutorials, I went from knowing nothing to creating high quality projects with ue 5 thanks to you, I'm having an issue with the Switching Materials Blueprint, I imported my geometry from Revit, and I can see on the Outliner that the majority of the geometry is composed by elements (2 or more), so when i want to change the material of an specific geometry, i rather need to change the material of all the elements that make up the geometry or find out which of all the elements of the geometry, is the one that displays the material on the surface, the problem is that when I use the command "Set material" in the event graph, It only changes the material of 1 of the elements of the geometry, so when I run the "game" and click E on the geometry I want to switch materials, i noticed It only changes the material of the side faces, which are varely seen on the render, and the upside face of the geometry (floor) remains with the originally applied material. Thanks again for all the help! Greetings from Mexico!
@DesignGoBrr
@DesignGoBrr 4 ай бұрын
'Set Material' node has an index input. If a mesh has 3 materials attached to it, then you would do 3 set material nodes for it with indexes set to 0, 1 and 2. Hope that helps.

How i can load the previous bueprint in a new bluperint and change it, using another key "F"". i Added another aciotn on FP and another key "F" on the imc_default, even on the firstperson character. My idea is to use E, to change materila, and F to chenga mesh, creating a Blueprint with 2 bluerpint inside. thank you. regards

Hi, I've got a question, and I would be glad if you could help me. I'm used to import by FBX model, but I don't know why the trace doesn't hit my imported geometry. When testing on the "test box" it would work fine, but when I moved to the door, I couldnt make it work. Any guesses on what could be going wrong ? Or what could I do? I guess its on the collisions settings, but i tried many modifications, and couldn't solve. Anyway, amazing tutorial like always, looking foward to learn more with you!
@DesignGoBrr
@DesignGoBrr Жыл бұрын
Hmm, two things come to mind: 1. In your door blueprint, make sure that the "rotate" node target has the door pivot set (and also that the door geometry is a child of the pivot) What could happen is that it's actually working, only that the rotation is not affecting the geometry. 2. Change the display mode to 'collision' - if your door geometry disappears, then the collision is not working. Hmmm also one time I forgot to replace the door geometry with the newly made Blueprint... so make sure that you've done that too.
@FrameRenders
@FrameRenders 11 ай бұрын
@@DesignGoBrr Hehe... the second point was exactly what was going on! Thanks a lot! To fix I had to edit the asset, and add a collision box to my mesh, i guess i've disabled the option to create collision on importing ( if there is one) .-. Without it the ray trace wouldnt hit the geometry. Anyway, thanks again for the amazing tutorial, and for the response your gave me. Keep doing that amazing job @DesignGoBrr, waiting to see what's coming up next here! Greetings from Brazil !!

Oh and to be clear: its not just the decal that's not showing up - the line trace does not seem to be be hitting the geometry - IE there is no little box at the end, the line just goes straight though.

As a student - you want it to be free. I'd suggest starting with D5 render (free version) and building your asset library from free resources available (start by creating an Epic Games account, and then downloading landscape assets / building materials from quixel.com/megascans/) They are all free for Epic Games users. I also have a full D5 course available on this youtube channel, so check it out. After you've done a few projects with D5 - then you can see if you want to upgrade to Unreal Engine - it's much harder, but has the potential for higher quality.
