Though I enjoy seeing people create a PC build based on a budget of their choosing, playing a game is different from creating a game. I use Blender in conjunction with Unreal Engine and have found the Intel/Nvidia combo to be the superior hardware for the actual creation of game-ready assets and environments.

I’m creating one to work in mostly Unity but would love to learn blender. I was thinking a i7 12700kf with an RTX 3060 12gb as a good starter computer. But I was also thinking that if I could save up more, I could get the i7 13700 if to pair with the 4060 ti 16gb. Thoughts?

Instead of windows key you better invest it in to get RTX 3070. You can get OEM keys for around $15 to $20.

any new thoughts with this build so far? thanks for the video!

After I build it I decided not to use it for Unreal Engine and use it for AI. Mostly Stable Diffusion and local LLMs. The one thing I would change to the original build is to have 64GB RAM instead 32, and maybe bigger SSD. I will probably upgrade RAM to 64GB or more and add another larger SSD. Other than that the PC is running great and i love it :)

Do u think that an RX 6800 from AMD would perform better for UE5 than the 3060? Since it has more VRAM, but its a Radeon card not an NVidia one. Mainly looking to make games with UE5 tech including nanite and medium sized open-world type maps
@BlueSporkАй бұрын
Yes, the AMD RX 6800 would generally perform better than the NVIDIA RTX 3060 for UE5, especially for tasks like handling larger textures and assets in open-world maps due to its higher 16GB of VRAM compared to the RTX 3060's 12GB. The extra VRAM can be particularly advantageous for UE5 features like Nanite (for high-resolution assets) and Lumen (for global illumination), as it allows more complex assets and textures to load efficiently without slowing down or requiring asset swapping. However, UE5 tends to have better support and optimizations for NVIDIA cards because of the CUDA cores and RTX hardware that work seamlessly with real-time ray tracing, which can make the RTX series cards a little more stable or compatible with some advanced lighting effects. For your specific needs-using Nanite and building medium-sized open-world maps-the RX 6800’s VRAM advantage will likely outweigh the RTX 3060's strengths. Just be aware that while AMD cards work well with UE5, you might occasionally encounter driver-related quirks or need to adjust settings.

It all depends on your objectives. What will you use the computer for? If I had to build it again, I would add a second, bigger SSD and double the RAM (which I plan to do as an upgrade to this computer soon).

the mistake people like you make is thinking you need to go out and waste your money on the best of the best spec pcs , not realizing that most of the devs have modest systems, the dev on the unreal engine Meta human team has a gtx 1080 on his personal computer and his work computer they use an RTX 2080. they only ever need something like a 4090 for when their are producing in 4k, other than that they say its not needed,

@BlueSpork3 ай бұрын
Unreal Engine is generally more GPU-focused, especially when it comes to rendering graphics and visual effects. However, the CPU also plays a crucial role in handling game logic, physics calculations, and AI. The GPU is more critical for tasks like real-time rendering, shaders, and post-processing effects.
