The 2016 ITSF rules updated the Ready Protocol (4.2.2), and it is no necessary to wait 1 second after the ball touches the second player figure as it is explained in minute 4:25 of the video. After the ball touches the second figure, you can pass inmediately to a third figure for shooting or passing the ball to the 3 bar with it. Thx for all your videos Zek!

It's a goal. It crossed the line. Just like in soccer or hockey. If it completely crossed the goal line and comes back out, it's a goal.

Can you stop the ball and then pass? And if the defending 5 man blocks my pass and hits it to there 3 man is that legal, if not what would happen?

Rule 23.1 A ball which is advanced from a pinned or stopped position on the five-man rod cannot be directly caught on the three-man rod of the same team regardless of whether or not the ball is touched by the opposing five-rod. 23.5 Penalty for an illegal pass - if a team violates the above rule of passing; the opposing team has the option of continuing play from the current position to serve the ball.

If the ball is stopped on your three-man and you notice your goalie rod is out of position, is it considered a distraction to adjust the goalie? What if you adjust the goalie and then wait a second or so before starting an offensive movement?
@zekefooser9 жыл бұрын
+Samuel Hodge You can adjust any rod you like, and as long as you wait a second before shooting everything is ok. If you adjust your defense just remember that the 15 second time limit is still active so it will leave you less time for the shot.

So, basically, if the ball "dies", the ball goes to the nearest goalie unless it's between the 5 bars. Am I right?

Would moving your 3 bar off the wall like you going lane then go for the wall pass be considered a distraction?
@zekefooser6 жыл бұрын
No. Unless it's excessively done. But you can always fake moving the 3 bar to the lane, then going wall.
@MartinThong10 жыл бұрын
At around minute 9, you mentioned that a dead ball between 2 defender rods get a reset of 15sec. I think this is wrong. It should be time continue after placing the ball to the nearest man. I cant help but imagine a defender can purposely make the ball go dead just to get the 15 sec reset.
@zekefooser10 жыл бұрын
When you say you think it's wrong, do you mean you wish the rule was not that way? What i said is correct, and you get a reset timer when the ball dies between the two goalie defenders.
@viktorvongiekanne15984 жыл бұрын
@@zekefooser This is adressed in the ruleset from 2016. Rule 8.4 states that "a ball that is intentionally made dead shall be awarded to the opposing team for a serve. (Example: pushing the ball from the bottom until out of reach)" So theres no endless loop of posession for the goalie.

Simultaneous bumping of the wall, as part of a pass or shot, is not considered jarring unless there was excessive force that clearly prevented the opponent from gaining possession. .........how can what you did trying to explain this rule, you did NOT use excessive force w/five bar and took shot simultaneously as rule states, 5 bar movement is part of that shot, it clearly wud not b a shot without 5bar movement [as long as you did NOT use EXCESSIVE FORCE] How does one petition ITSP about rule changes or modifications

Hi zeke. very good video, but I left with a doubt. when the ball reaches 5 bar, I can make the pass without necessarily touching two different players
@Trhnetesiuz10 жыл бұрын
Hi Unreal, could you please commment on first shot scoring? Under ITSF, you need to do that "Ready? Ready." stuff, pass it to another player {even from the same rod} and then you can score after 1 sec? If you use serving holes, then you can score with a first shot {serving side} or even no touch is required {defending side and spinned served ball}?
@zekefooser10 жыл бұрын
Under ITSF you use the Ready protocol put the ball in play. You have to touch two men on the same rod (except in the goalie area where both goalie rods are essentially considered one, so touching men on either rod is fine). After it touches the second man, you have to wait a second before advancing the ball. In some non ITSF rules books, where you are allowed to serve using the serving hole as soon as you put the ball through the hole, it's live and you can advance right away.
@WilsonJoey9 жыл бұрын
Is it legal for a player to shoot a ball after taking their hands off the rods, then coming right back and taking the shot? For example, say the ball is at rest at the 3-man, the offensive player takes hands of the 3 man, makes an adjustment to his goalie and 2-man, then comes back and suddenly shoots? It's almost a trick play because the defense is distracted a bit. Is this considered legal or is there a rule about hand having to be on the rods for a certain amount of time before a shot is taken?
@zekefooser9 жыл бұрын
Joey Wilson 20.4 It is considered a distraction, after setting up a shot, to remove a hand from the handle and then immediately shoot the ball. The ball may only be shot after both hands (and/or wrist) have been on both handles for one full second. 20.4.1 In singles, rule 20.4 only applies to a set shot on the three-rod.

So If I get It right it's also forbidden to pass (4ex. from 5 to 3) and shoot immediately(with 3 to goal) without 1 sec wait?
@zekefooser9 жыл бұрын
No, that's perfectly valid. It's only when you move your hands off the handle. Also moving your hand off the handle on a set shot on the 3 in singles is the only place you have to wait a second. If it's not a set shot you can shoot right away in transition.

Lets say I called a timeout in the 3 bar. Can the next timeout also be on the 3 bar? (If the goalie got the ball, or I scored.) Also, would it matter if I scored or I missed and the goalie got the ball?
@zekefooser8 жыл бұрын
You can't call back to back timeouts on the same rod (or goalie area) if the ball never left your possession. but if it leaves your possession the you can call your second timeout on the same or any other rod.

You said that if the ball goes dead in the goalie area the time gets reset and the ball stays in the goalie area. But like you just showed, you can provoke dead balls in the goalie area yourself, right? Couldn't you get a free time reset without taking a timeout that way? Or is that "problem" only regulated by the sportsmanship rule?

@zekefooser8 жыл бұрын
+Jacob Raccuia It really all depends what rules you want to abide by. In the old days, when the serving hole was used, you could pass/shoot as soon as you served through the hole. In organized rules like ITSF you have to touch two guys before advancing.

In general I try to keep tutorials and videos under 5 minutes. However for something like the rules it's not possible to shorten. I could make ten 2 minute videos and put a playlist, which is not a bad idea, but definitely a lot more work.

Hi Zeke, we have some discussion here at the office about scoring in a one on one game in Holland. My friend says it's perfectly legal to score if he shoots from his 5-bar to his 3-bar offence and then just shoots the ball through in the same direction to the goal from the 3-bar without stopping it first. So he basically scores when I'm still holding my offence bars and I cannot defence the attempt. In the part of Holland where I'm from we don't allow that in a one on one game (gentlemens rule, you have to wait until there is at least someone defending) but he says it's equal chance as I'm allowed the same strategy as he is. How do you feel about that in a one on one game? Is it dishonest because you can't defend a shot like that or is it honest because everyone has the same privilege?
@ethanwahle86466 жыл бұрын
There is no legal penalty for doing such, here in Sioux Falls, SD we have 2 or 3 people that play fast games where they will pass then go for a push kick or sling shot and stuff. Best thing to do is always be ready to switch as quickly as possible. Think about it like this, the possession time of 15 seconds starts when they first have control of it in that area, and if an opponent takes a bit to get to the goalie position its taking away time from the opposing player. Though its annoying, best advice is to wear tenner shoes as it says in the ITSF rule book and be able to twist your body to get there quickly.
