I'm one of the very few people who can say I've beaten Cybermorph, Alien VS Predator, Tempest 2000, Atari Karts, Dragon Lair CD, Ultra Vortex, Rayman, Kasumi Ninja and a Motorcycle game I can't remember the name. Also I was able to play Doom Land Support play. 2 Jaguars and 2 TVs. That was way ahead of time and a Blast. I supported Jaguar 64 from the beginning but......there was too many let downs. One thing for sure is the Jaguar system looked amazing and so did its prototype.
@Elkplaysandpaints5 жыл бұрын
It's crazy to think that the Jaguar has such an interesting behind-the-scenes story, especially for the unreleased games. I still can't see it as having any modicum of potential for success, like the 32X or 3DO, but it's actually kinda cool hearing about why things happened the way they did.
@Jenovi5 жыл бұрын
The Jag's number one downfall over many was not launching first in Europe. Doing that would have given Atari the needed user install base required to support the system for some time.

I'm gonna comment on every video of yours to say how much I love you because your channel's small and I want you to feel loved. Your content is professional and interesting, but most of all you do a wonderful job choosing topics. Many video game channels cover the same content over and over again, which makes it hard to find interesting subjects that haven't been done to death. Everytime I click on one of your videos I know I'm gonna learn something new. Thank you so much for your work and I hope your channel grows to get the recognition you deserve.

Joust feels very much like a game that would not do well in 3D without overhauling the basic concept to the point that it wouldn't really feel like Joust at all. Also, is the Robotron game you mentioned the one that eventually hit PS1?
@KGRAMR5 жыл бұрын
I wonder the same thing too. Did it become Robotron X? Nobody knows for sure, as no one has ever approached to those who worked on the project.
@Jenovi5 жыл бұрын
I haven't deep dived into Robotron yet, but part of the job before I make the first video is creating a full list along with sources, people, and companies to contact when it's time to dive deeper. With Robotron, there's nothing. I'm not sure it was even started. In fact, my guess is it was never started as no developer was declared attached to the project. Without any lead, it's hard to track down additional information. One possible avenue is talking with the dev team behind the Lynx game, but it's a long shot to what's most likely a dead end.

SSI tried it with Dragon strike on the Amiga and PC, but added a lot of variety to the game structure. You found magical items, used ointments,game saw you going through a canyon battling dragons, then moving on into an encampment where boats would fire arrows at you, if you fell below a certain altitude. This was 1990 and on far more limited hardware, if HVS had tapped into something similar, the game might of stood a chance.

100th like. WHERE'S MY PRIZE!? Sigh, Sam Tramiel. Man, that guy made some rather strange decisions. Anyways, I sideways thought Dactyl Joust looked to be a game that could actually show off some of the Jag's potential. CD-I exclusive is how I refer to Thunder in Paradise. Honestly, quite a few games here look pretty decent. Great job as always man.

I should make a video about even in bankruptcy, Jack and the Tramiels ended up with all assists of value which also resulted in a lawsuit. Too bad it's not game related at that point.

Jaguar needed these games in early 1994 to end of 1994. love my Jaguar still but Atari blew it rushing things and not supporting development. Also skipping big box stores killed it. The but, we want to sell the Lynx attitude was ridiculous.

I wouldn't put an ounce of faith in Humans 2 claims by Martin Hooley. He announced that Mega CD Humans was nearly finished… That the MD would receive Humans II:The Holy Grail and Humans III Humans In Space Humans 2 arrived on other formats as Insult To Injury and Humans III again on other formats as Evolution..lost in time. And a NEC 9801 version of Humans was also announced.

Yep, it's an extremely limited early proof of concept tech demo, no A. I etc, so not realistic of how final game would of run. It has to be taken in context of what it actually was.

How was Atari flush with cash after the jaguar? I’ would have thought they’d have lost a lot of money on the jaguar.

A man who worked in 3D since the early 90s professionally was very very impressed by the Dactyl joust video considering the hardware. He says it looked to him like they achieved a resolution if 320"240 or better. Other notables were the smoothness of the flapping wings with no jaggies along the edges and the Lance comes to a fine point.
