Cardinal Rex Jim Lawson was a great composer, trumpeter, saxophonist and a guitarist. He was a great a high life singer from kalabari buguma. He died 1971 in an auto accident. One of survivors of his band was Pa Tony Odili the Man who play drum or Conga. Pa Tony Odili was 10 years older than Rex Lawson but he calls him Master as mark of respect and as band leader. Rex was so much talented and loved by his Band. He sang Kalabari, Igbo and Efik. May his soul rest in Peace

Rex Jim Lawson Erikosima was a great highlife exponent who's so much endowed as a song writer, guitarist, trumpeter, saxophonist, trombonist and also a Singer. May his soul rest in perfect peace Amen.

Thanks for publishing this timeless recording. It was published earlier as a complete taping but mysteriously disappeared from KZbin about two years ago. This music captures the genius of Rex Lawson at early stages of his musical development. Please can you release the complete recording in one piece. Better still, can you make it available commercially. Many fans of the legendary Rex Lawson would love to purchase a copy.

Jim rexlawson was the defination of HIGH life, that is why among all the late and present HIGH life musician, he given and crown king of HIGH life. A musician no other high life musician could still beat his HIGH life style up till date. He died and went away with that title king.
