After Eminem came out of a coma after being beaten by bailey, the first thing he said was "I can tie my shoes" . He had to learn to speak and talk again it was his mom that helped him. They also constantly wrote poems to each other

A lot of this never-before released album was during his recovery and relapse of his addiction and mourning the loss of Proof. You can hear it in his voice through his cadence and delivery. He didnt have the same punch and intensity like his last albums. It was a good reason why this album never saw the light of day until it was leaked years later.

Stuff from King Mathers is a bit iffy -- def his worst time with his drug addiction, and you can hear it all over his voice. it'd be interesting to see you react to more of that, since that 2006-2007 time for Em has a lot of music that's been lost and leaked over time. kinda macabre to think about, but I'm all for some King Mathers reactions if you're up for it, Cliff. and for the record, you might've already guessed but "King Mathers" is a fan-name for that retirement album Em mentioned making around that time, which he ditched after overdosing and coming back with Relapse instead. sooo it can be debatable what's actually _on_ this album, just FYI if you react to more of it. I haven't heard this before, it's interesting to hear unreleased stuff. Of course you can clearly hear why he scrapped King Mathers, especially after he got off drugs he probably didn't want to even think about these. Anyway, really awesome that you're offering what you can to help folks. Even just knowing the fact that someone's always out there if stuff goes down can help enormously mentally.

I don't hear drugs so much as the influence of 50 Cent. This track has that G Unit production and Em's delivery has a bit of that 50 style slurring. Maybe he was on drugs in this era but I don't think that's what you're hearing.

Nah man. I listened to King Mathers shit so many times (late 2006-2007) and Em was truly fucked up. All over the place. Listen to Pistol Poppin' from Cashis. It was recorded like a month before Em's overdose and he almost couldn't enunciate. Incredible he recovered from that

I'm a recovering addict. And what people cant understand unless they've done it, is you have to relearn how to live life. You became so conditioned to live and operate on drugs. Your life was structured around drugs. So once they're removed, you don't know how to do even the simple things in life. Like "how do I watch a movie or listen to music if I'm not high?" You have to learn not only how to live life sober, but most importantly, how to enjoy life sober.
