Agreed! I've worked in retail for a LONG time. I remember a woman going off on my co worker because of our return policy that employees don't make. They walked in holding hands and left with him walking ahead of her looking disappointed.

Yep. I agree 100%. Any form of customer service teaches you a LOT about life. We should treat others with respect as customers or most other interactions. But of course, I've been on the other end too, being ignored by sales reps who are on their phone, or gossiping, or watching videos. And that's really unacceptable. You're going to have to take some crap in almost ANY job, and to a certain level, you have to suck up the parts you don't like, and DO your job! Unless you're a clown, you're not there to have fun! @@sailorsister211 You mean they say it in a rude way? Because it is probably the truth. Or at least some of it is. I've gone into places I worked at say, a year before, to be told that they don't do refunds or whatever, when I used to work there and know that they DO. The employee I'm speaking with is just lying because they don't want to bother. However, on the off chance that things have changed, I'll find an old coworker who's still there and ask them before I get firm with the new employee. And I always try to keep it polite, in a way I'd want to be treated.💙

I was in line at a deli one time, a younger woman was working. There was a man in front of me that was so rude, so demanding and literally demeaning this employee. I’m very shy and incredibly non-confrontational but I couldn’t stand for what I was seeing. I basically told this man how I felt about him and he stormed off. The poor woman working there was crying. I told her that people like that customer are miserable and feel the need to bring others down to their level. I told her she’s doing a great job. The manager saw the whole thing happen and came up to me, thanked me for being so nice and then gave me my sandwich on the house! Of course I never expect anything in return, I was just being a decent human being. But it shows a little kindness goes a long way!

The customer is not always right. Sometimes there are not. I work in a restaurant (I don’t deal with people very often because I work in the back) but I’ve heard some people be complete jerks though it seems rare (at my workplace)

i used to work in retail for 2-3 years, i would be able to understand putting workers through those situations. whenever i go shopping in retail stores, i always keep respect and patience within me. because i know certain workers are putting in effort, but they don't work for me so i will appreciate their time.

As a barista this feels like home, my goodness you don’t know how small and scared you feel behind the counter. The customers look like giants. One tiny mistake and your done for it you get screamed at you insults you pretty much relieve your glory days at when you were at middle school and thinking to yourself how did I get here. That’s how strong customer service is it makes you feel weak and pathetic about yourself but it also has its benefits, it helps you learn how to appreciate those who serve you
