i used to work in retail for 2-3 years, i would be able to understand putting workers through those situations. whenever i go shopping in retail stores, i always keep respect and patience within me. because i know certain workers are putting in effort, but they don't work for me so i will appreciate their time.

One time when one of my buddies was working at Starbucks I was getting a drink in line and some customer infront of me was being extremely rude to him like this lady, I cussed him out so hard in front of the line (without showing him that I was friends with my buddy) dude kept his mouth shut after that because I’m not an employee and more than happy to take it outside

I started my first day at a new job a week ago, working in a bar which I've never done before, so I, too, was trying to get into the swing of things and had an extremely rude customer. It really does knock your confidence, especially when you're trying your darn hardest. My motto is, "You never know what someone else is going through, so treat everyone with kindness."
@Debby-p9g4 ай бұрын
I worked in a deli once. I had the "customer" say they were in a hurry and to move faster. My reply. Lady, I've got 2 speeds, and if you don't like this one you're really not going to like the other one. Fortunately, I worked in a family owned deli, not a chain, so the owner backed me up.

As someone who worked in retail and fast food in my early 20s (and was a manager as well), I can safely say that people really do act like this. I can only laugh at how miserable some of those people were when I think back to those days, but I would never work those jobs again due to the stress of dealing with huge jerks, especially as an introverted person. I would hold a brave face during my shift, but sometimes being berated and yelled at by angry miserable customers would bring me to tears

As a barista this feels like home, my goodness you don’t know how small and scared you feel behind the counter. The customers look like giants. One tiny mistake and your done for it you get screamed at you insults you pretty much relieve your glory days at when you were at middle school and thinking to yourself how did I get here. That’s how strong customer service is it makes you feel weak and pathetic about yourself but it also has its benefits, it helps you learn how to appreciate those who serve you

I remember when I was a cashier at Lowe’s, some dude came to my register to return something and I was a newbie so hadn’t been trained on returns so I told him he had to go to customer service to do that. He complained and yelled because it was too far. After he left the customer behind him was like “man, what a dick. It’s really not that far…” I felt so happy in that moment.

I work in a grocery store. If there’s two things you need to know, one, the saying “the customer’s always right” gets under our skin, I personally LOATHE that saying, and two the deli’s the absolute worst department to work in. It’s so bad that both deli employees and non-deli grocery store employees will tell you to stay away from there if you apply for a grocery store job.

For heaven’s sake people! The correct quote is “The Customer is always right in the matter of taste.” It was for clothing salespeople! It means don’t talk a customer out of something they like just because you don’t like it. An outfit, for example. If we quote something, could we please not misquote in order to serve our own purposes? LOL!

As a gas station worker I get “I’m in a hurry” all the time. If you just need gas then I’ll try and work w u, but if you’re just rude for no reason, then I will NOT let your lack of time management become my issue. Tough shit.
