I think that the discussion at 56:15 regarding Muslim sisters 'on stage' reveals how much of a grey area it really is and how unsure we are about the whys and the hows of it all. We are certainly treading in murky waters and our respected brothers with knowledge are doing our sisters a huge disservice by not giving clear, well thought out guidance to them before they embark on a path in which they could be taking what is probably one of the first steps towards hypocrisy, and that is 'putting themselves in fitnah (trial)'. (The hypocrites) will call the believers: "Were we not with you?" The believers will reply: "Yes! But you led yourselves into temptations...” (Al-Hadid: 14). Some sisters have already taken steps to speak on public platforms but the way that they conduct themselves reveals their own confusion. For example, their instinctive modesty in front of a male guest makes them smile and laugh less (if at all) but if that same guest as well as many other non-mahram men are at home and watching them online then it's almost like they aren't there and the need to control certain facial expressions and smiles goes away. Not having this guidance already in place means that we will end up being in a position of closing the stable door after the horse has bolted. Also, we shouldn't allow the disbelievers to pressure us into reacting to their labels, such as 'misogynistic', by throwing our sisters to the wolves. Like Imam Wisam Sharieff said, “Is it fair for us to Islamicise everything? We are basically trying to fit their culture into our world...”

Furthermore, regarding the issue of females learning Qur'an from behind a curtain/screen of some sort, although there may not be many non-Arab, Salafi, female Qur'an reciters with ijaazah here in the UK, our Tablighi brothers and sisters seem to be way ahead and using screens is integral to their way of getting females to get ijaazah from males. I've seen their system in action and a young sister I know gained ijaazah for recitation from the Pakistani teacher of a well-known Saudi muqri, just a few years ago. Even though he was in his 70s, she either learnt from behind a screen or via Skype when he would return to Madinah (even though she wears a niqaab). The guidance of scholars regarding males teaching females has always been that the man should be elderly and that he should teach from behind a screen. Removing the screen will only serve to add an element of fitnah that nobody needs. There's been a concerted effort by our respected imams and ustaadhs to address marriage problems especially the issue of 'the lack of an emotional connection' with one's spouse. Putting male and females together in such a close space is foolish, especially with learning Qur'an. I mean, it's one area in which Shaytaan can give you a valid excuse to even look at her lips! After all, you need to check if she's pronouncing her 'thaas' properly don't' you? We already have Islamic institutions in which men and women do liaise and some of us have witnessed the fitnah that it causes. Again, we shouldn't allow the disbelievers to shame us into copying them with 'can't Muslim men be trusted to work with women?' Their own adultery statistics due to affairs in the workplace are abysmal. I heard a married sister once tell me that she hated answering the phone to a particular married brother as it 'gave her butterflies'. She was a good sister and she hated how it made her feel. If we continue to remove the barriers of protection that our deen has given us, especially the screen between a female and a male Qur'an teacher, then don't be surprised if your spouse comes home and tells you that they don't feel from you the emotional connection and butterflies that they get in the company of their teacher/student. Finally, it's also wrong to assume that sisters want the physical barriers to be removed when they are learning from a male teacher. That's simply not true.

Love all of this The idea of transcending gender at 56:00 was great, but feels a little disconnected from what was said around the workplace / conferences. I one-hundred percent agree with your comment. There's time for humour and banter, and then there's a fine line for respect and adaab which can become slightly compromised when engaging in the (for lack of a better term) 'ghetto-ized' re-imagining of our Prophets and scholars. I'm not concerned that there was malicious intent to begin with. I'm concerned that was a degree of self-awareness or intent missing in the first place...May A (SWT) purify us _all_ of what we say in jest, deliberation and ignorance. I include myself in this. @@akhifromlondon9411 This took a weird turn. Brother, I am just going to caution you against declaring kufr on anyone. This is not _our_ place, and this is _not_ the situation you seem to present it to be. Be mindful of God in your suggestion of what the Ustadh was is _truly_ doing. I am quite confident that this was definitely NOT a deliberate attempt by our Ustadh to mock his role-model, our Nabi (SAWS). Rather, he 'overreached' in making his point in his explanation about what we imagine vs what the realities of revelations are, as they occurred. It was unfortunately a judgement or poor word-choice, from an insaan; let's acknowledge it and move to better approaches in the future. My comments and the other brother's were not an invitation to declare fatwahs on our Brother. And A (SWT) knows best.
@akhifromlondon9411

@@asma-mushtaq My sister, I did not declare kufr on anyone. However with regards to kufr, the verse in the Qur'an which I had quoted is very clear. Also, this Imam's joke was clearly a mockery of the Prophet Muhammad (saw). "Imam" Wisam even called it "blasphemy" himself, so how can you say it was not deliberate? He knows/admits it's blasphemy yet still insists in his stupid joke. With regards to the verse I quoted: Ibn Taymiyah (rh) said: “Making fun of Allaah, His Signs and His Messenger is kufr (disbelief) and the one who does that disbelieves thereby after he had believed.” Shaykh Muhammad ibn ‘Uthaymeen said in al-Majmoo’ al-Thameen, 1/63: “The matters of Divine Lordship, Prophethood, Revelation and religion are sacred matters which are to be venerated. It is not permissible for anyone to show disrespect towards them, whether by mocking them to make others laugh or to poke fun at them. If anyone does that, he is a kaafir, because this is indicative of his disrespect towards Allaah and His Messengers, Books and Laws. Whoever does that has to repent to Allaah for what he has done, because that is a kind of hypocrisy. So he has to repent to Allaah, seek His forgiveness, mend his ways and develop fear of Allaah, veneration towards Him and love for Him in his heart. And Allaah is the Source of strength." May Allah (swt) guide us to the truth even if it is against ourselves, our loved ones or our role models. May the peace and blessings of Allah (swt) be upon His Messenger Muhammad (saw). Barakallahu feekum.

I'm really surprised to see a few complaints about this, because I thought he made his point very clearly. I believe there's a bit of a misunderstanding, so I'll try to explain iA for everyone's benefit (so we can all think better of one another). The joke is that he's NOT, in fact, imitating or mocking the Prophet (pbuh), but rather the rest of us who are watching. The generation of Muslims nowadays can be quite lethargic and just "take things as they come" without preparing or correcting themselves to receive truth and duty and responsibility. It's the attitude that most people have towards most things in life today. So the sheikh is calling us out on that by asking if we can imagine the Prophet (pbuh) behaving the way we do. That's what's so funny about it - the idea that the Messenger (pbuh) could behave that way is ridiculous to the point of being comical, hence why they're laughing. It's an eye-opener in the sense that our mindset and our behaviour is really quite silly in the context of being a believer, especially when we consider the Prophet (pbuh) as the greatest example. Sheikh Wisam's entire point surrounding that joke is to emphasise how present and how meaningful the consciousness of the Prophet (pbuh) was ("he was aware of his breath for 10 years," 01:04:25 subhanAllah.) When they laughed about it being "blasphemy," the sheikh said he was breaking Pakistani blasphemy laws - and as a Pakistani myself, I can attest to such laws as serving people's egos more than Allah (immediately pointing to others - without asking or trying to understand them - and saying this or that word or action of theirs "disrespects" Allah or the Messenger (pbuh) is another way of saying "I love Islam more than you," or "I am a better Muslim than you"... and also these blasphemy "crimes" and their punishments in Pakistan are far removed from the sunnah of the Prophet (pbuh) himself. So mocking those laws is another way the Sheikh challenges the foolishness of insan. If Sheikh Wisam is reading this somehow (salam sheikh, jazakhAllah khair and shoutout for the wonderful talk!) I would advise him not to make a joke like that - not because it's an affront to Allah and His messenger (pbuh), but because some Muslims will take personal offence and fall into judgement, arguments, thinking badly of him or the hosts, and so on. Which seems to be what's happening here. In any case, may Allah forgive us all for our shortcomings and bring us closer to understanding Him, and understanding one another. Ameen!

Salam, Good advices, interesting anecdotes, with some moments of comedy gold. -- Couple of improvement points: 1. Some serious points were presented frivouously. E.g. When the guest put his hand on his head and started singing a Quran translation in an Indian accent. 2. Avoid discussing Hollywood entertainment in a positive way. It was disappointing to see the guest telling the audience he was watching Hollywood on the plane after Hajj. We should be careful about the habits we are normalising. -- Keep up the good efforts, may Allah give you all wonderful rewards.

Pauline christianity Persuasion methodology in the Quran-Early creation in the Quran: Church evidence: In the Encyclopedia of Christian Knowledge, the Bible Series No. 9, entitled "Introduction to the Criticism of the holy Book" by bible scholar Riad Yusef Daoud, page 6 “Example: Peter's confession of the deity of Christ. Jesus asked his disciples, "Who am I in your opinion?" Peter's answer was different in the Gospel of Matthew than the rest of the Gospels: Matthew 16:16 "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." Mark 8:29 "You are the Christ." Luke 9:20: "The Messiah of God." And John 6:69 "You are the Holy One of God." What did Peter actually say?” The author bible scholar Riad continues: “Peter's testimony in the Gospel of Matthew indicates that he had understood the mystery of Jesus at that time, which contradicts the disciples’ concept of the nature of the Messiah in the Gospels because they did not know this secret before the resurrection. It can simply be said that when Peter's confession was recorded, it was interpreted in the light of the resurrection.” Quranic rebuttal (using rational analysis and scribal proof from the Gospels): Who is Peter? Peter is one of the 12 disciples (students) of Jesus of Mary. Apparently, Doctor Riad found textual contradictions and he is trying to justify it using rational judgement. Doctor Riad is trying to justify that a monotheist (someone who claims no God except the creator) can claim himself 100% man and 100% God if he died and then resurrects. Let us read the resurrection accounts. Go to King James Version. To read Jesus resurrection accounts Go to Mark 16:09-20. The resurrection accounts in KJV Mark 16:9-20 do not exist in the oldest manuscripts Codex Sinaiticus and Codex Vaticanus. Go to Codex Sinaiticus Codex Sinaiticus Home Page www.codexsinaiticus.org/en/ In the upper right hand corner find "Go To Book". select Mark. Then select chapter 16. you will not find these verses. it was not written by the Original scribe. It is an insertion. If you don’t find these verses in the original & oldest manuscripts (Greek are oldest not Aramaic), then: 1- Chapter 16 ends in verse 08 the man standing at the Tomb. full stop. Jesus did not meet with any disciple after the Tomb was found empty. So he did not change the original faith. There is no secret faith and preached faith. Old faith and new faith. 2- If Mark 16:9-20 is omitted, there is no account of the resurrection. 3-Peter did not say "son of god". Who forged Peter testimony? All the 12 disciples testified in the gospels that Jesus of Mary is 100% man. We end up with 12 testimonies that Jesus is 100% man and 1 forged testimony that Jesus is 100% man and 100% God=12 disciples. What will the court ruling be? Quran [3:78-80] Al Mighty states: “78-And indeed, there is among them a party who alter the scripture with their tongues so you may think it is from the Scripture, but it is not from the Scripture. And they say, “This is from Allah,” but it is not from Allah. And they speak untruth about Allah while they know. 79-It is not for a human being that Allah should give him the Scripture and significant judgement and prophet hood and then he would say to the people, “Be servants to me rather than Allah,” but [instead he would say], “be pious scholars of the Lord because of what you have taught of the Scripture and because of what you have studied. 80-Nor could he order you to take the angels and prophets as lords. Would he order you to disbelief after you had been Muslims?” Quran continues many of the fellow Christians know about the insertions but they insist on their conclusion because of excessive love for Jesus. Quran [4:171] (Al Mighty continues): "O People of the Scripture, do not commit excess in your religion or say about Allah except the truth. The Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, was but a messenger of Allah and His word which He directed to Mary and a soul [created at a command] from Him. So believe in Allah and His messengers. And do not say, "Three"; desist - it is better for you. Indeed, Allah is but one God. Exalted is He above having a son. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And sufficient is Allah as Disposer of affairs.

We can ask any alim if its a legitimate action, and the answer will be no. Its not a daroorah so that image being there is haram. These guys are making clowns of themselves really, What islam are these guys propogating. الله المستعان

Rawflow Records are you actually serious? You got music tracks with profanity, speaking of violence and you’re gonna lecture on how next man knows he is intentionally flaunting ijma’ positions so that he can stoke controversy? Chill.

Shouldn’t expose your fathers sins like that though. Mortgage is a major sin which Allah declares war upon the one who consumes any interest.

1:04:03 - Shame on you all. “If you ask them (about this), they declare: ‘We were only talking idly and joking.’ Say: ‘Was it at Allaah, and His Ayaat and His Messenger that you were mocking?’ Make no excuse; you disbelieved after you had believed” [Qur'an: Surah al-Tawbah 9:65-66]
