A year ago today we released the first episode of Minutes With, featuring Mike from Darklight.
Since then, we’ve run the show on a weekly basis and have met and listened to so many amazing people tell us their incredible stories.
A lot of people have asked is to release longer cuts of the interviews, so to mark the one year anniversary, we will start to release longer episodes.
We checked in with Mike on the impact that the original video had on him. He shared the following message:
Since the original video we have had people from all over the world contacting us offering support and best wishes. Parents have seen the video and checked their children's devices finding that their children were been groomed online which has lead to those children been protected. The comments humbled me truly and gave me so much validation. I cant thank the lad bible team enough for making little mike proud of the person he has become. Thank you all so much 👊👊❤
-Mike
I’d like to thank all our viewers for their time and comments, we read them all and listen to what you say and ask for.

I have an 11yr old daughter snd 13yr old son. It’s awesome that Mike and his team do this job in helping lock away predators but we as parents must do our jobs too. We need to make sure our kids aren’t posting things that might get them unwanted attention, make sure they have privacy settings on so that they can’t get comments and friend requests from random strangers etc. Like Mike said, it takes 5minutes to check a kids settings on their phone. I have friends who let their kids just do as they please on IG and Snapchat etc. nope… not my kids! My daughter loves TikTok but it’s restricted and she’s not allowed her own profile. if she doesn’t like it… then oh well 🤷🏻‍♀️

One time when i was around 12 i took the bus home from school, and when i got off my stop there was an older man sitting at the bus stop waiting for the bus. However he didn't get on it when it arrived, but instead followed me for several blocks. So i had the idea of taking 3 right turns so that we would eventually go in a circle. When i looked behind me on the last turn he was still following me, so as soon as i got around the corner i sprinted home, and hid in my front lawn up in a tree. I saw him walk on the street by my house, looking around trying to find me, and then he finally fucked off. Shit was scary.

As a child in the early 1990s, I lived through being groomed and sexually abused by multiple people, which amongst other traumas significantly impacted on my adolescence and adult life. I have survived drug addiction and suicide attempts but thanks to the love and understanding of my fiancée, I sought therapy at the age of 31. Whilst I will never get justice for what I endured, it gives me hope to see that people like Mike are working tirelessly to do what police forces are often unable to commit resources to. Paedophilia should be the most clear-cut, black-and-white cases that go up against the court. The sentences should be extremely harsh, too. There's really not many grey areas at all, besides the example given in the video. I know judges don't feel the same, though I understand why drug-dealers are given harsh sentences (I don't agree with it though, but it's in the court's interest as there's plenty of money and property to be seized and sold). It's always made me question why paedophiles why they're given very lenient sentences in the UK.

@@headliner48 I wouldn't really say "in the UK", because that makes me think of the people more than the judges and it's definitely not tolerated by the people. Or by most people. I don't think it can be treated either and I don't think lenient sentences and separate, sex-offender-only prisons are enough of a deterrent. Not by a long shot. Years and years amongst other people that made mistakes (for the most, forgivable mistakes) should be a start.

@@gorkyd7912 unfortunately, I don't think you can rehabilitate someone who has such a lack of empathy for other people that they would abuse a child. @@TheAwesomes2104 Every person acts selfishly, empathy doesn't have a lot to do with it. Rehabilitation works when the self-destruction and consequences of harm done to others can be shown to outweigh the relatively small and fleeting physiological reward for offending. In this way it's no different than rehabilitating a drug addict or domestic violent. The core problem for society trying to undergo this endeavor is that we have to show that living a non-abusive life has a somehow morally superior quality, otherwise there's no way to convince anyone who has no self-worth that they should not take a self-destructive course of action. Neither empathy nor threats will deter someone who no longer puts value on life itself and in this state society has bigger problems than just pedos believe it or not.

When this guy started talking about risk assessments and stopping contact and referring the case to social services in an instance where they believe the person may have learning difficulties seriously impressed me.These areht the vigilantes some would portray them as - they're clearly very professional and trying to do the right thing which the government is failing to But honestly speaking is maddening to me that groups like this have to exist because we are paying plenty in taxation for proper policing - why the hell is this effectively being out sourced by them to joe public? The police need to make these sorts of crimes - in my view pretty much the worse crime there is and just as bad as murder since you are killing someone's spirit - way way more of their resources and priorities. I mean the police are now all over twitter reminding us to be "greater than a hater" ( or else🙄) and policing our speech in case we don't use someone's friggin preferred pronouns or cause some other grievous offence, when maybe they should be focused on actual seriois crime like this. I just think policing priorities are all wrong and the penalties from the criminal justice system are far far too lenient.

No words can convey the true depth of appreciation so many including myself have for Mike and all those who sacrifice to protect our children.. the only words I can conjure that may even stand for anything are ‘action speaks louder than words’, watching this has moved me to the point and given me confidence to act and support this community and thus help myself just like little Mike wished. Thank you all 💜

I am a victim of child molestation. My offender did no time. My father was so angry and frustrated by the police not locking him up after I told him the man in the apartment upstairs was doing things to me. My father took a baseball Bat and broke both his legs. He was them put in prison. I wish people like this man could have stopped what happened to me and my family. He groomed me and my family. I still have ptsd, severe panic attacks, depression and anger despite decades of therapy since I was 8.

The work they’re doing is just amazing. Thank you so, so much for keeping our kids safe. I do have to say though, the justice system has failed. 8 years for sexually abusing a girl for 5 years? He stole her innocence away, the years she was supposed to be a carefree child were destroyed by that man. There’s no doubt in my mind that there’s incidences that we’re never disclosed to the police. Men like that deserve a life sentence for stealing the lives of young children.

Parents also have a responsibility to protect children too. Why are there always a group that couldn't care less and think it's someone elses responsibility? Probably the same types that want their road blocked off so children can wander about at all hours as they can't be bothered looking after them. I would also want people with criminal records banned from such hunting groups and banned from social media.

I wish that a group like this had been the ones to sting an older family member of mine. He has learning difficulties and has always had problems. He had a really vile upbringing but fared much worse than the others in the family because of his difficulties. I’m very glad he was caught, but he was stung live on Facebook with his name and details broadcast, which led to everyone he relied on being forced to ostracise him, and tbh was pretty sickening for me watching someone I had grown up with in this situation. I know how many issues he has, and obviously the stingers didn’t bother to notice, or else didn’t care. The help he needed wasn’t given to him - he needed social services to get involved. His learning difficulties are that severe. He went to prison for a year. Got out and then eventually got caught in the same way, went to prison for a much longer time. Still in there. When he gets our he’ll probably do it again. Because nobody bothers to really monitor these people it seems. A group like this would’ve noticed and done something that would’ve actually stopped the cycle of abuse. Because it’ll only continue now.

@@cherrydragon3120 It's not good for parents to let their kids do whatever they want. It's lazy parenting, that's what that is. There are so many studies about the topic so you don't have to take my word for it. Kids need boundaries, love and guidance foremost. I'm glad that my father had the energy to push me as hard as he did have to so i would go try boxing for first time. I fell in love with the sport. Competed for 8 years. I could defend myself physically when i had to defend myself. Boxing did help me to be more confident for sure and overall it has always been a positive impact on my mental- and physical health. If my dad and mom would have let me do what i wanted and not damn near make me go to gym for the first time, i would have simply played more videogames instead of going to the gym. Rules and boundaries. Kids will be better off if they have rules and boundaries.

The justice system despise him and actually view Mike's organisation as a threat and conflict towards their operations! The fact that Mike, without any substantial financial backing, nor any adequate training and experience, is catching these animals more successfully (in terms of numbers) and greater numbers, undermines the government's police department! I'm surprised Mike hasn't been a target of organised assault as repacution for targeting this melicious network. Which results in being exposed publicly, being shamed and prosecuted! I hope this doesn't occur, just make sure to put your safety and your family number one priority!
