with the murder of two priests there is some thought it was revenge for sexualk abuse the priests were involved in...In April of 2015, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Helena released the names of eighty former employees (mostly priests and nuns) who had allegedly sexually abused children in western Montana. One of the names released was Father Kerrigan. It was discovered that he had been moved between multiple churches throughout his thirty years of priesthood. Also, he had previously spent time at the Congregation of the Servants of the Paraclete in Jemez Springs, New Mexico. The facility was originally used to treat priests with drug and alcohol problems; however, it later took in priests accused of sexual abuse. Some have now theorized that his disappearance may be a case of vigilante justice. However, some investigators have claimed that the motive for his alleged murder was not related to sexual abuse.

I think Kurt died at the party after they tried sobering him up, alcohol poisoning. I think people moved his body once he died in the house. His friend didn’t act right after he went missing. Supplying minors alcohol at your house is illegal obviously. He was probably taken to the ravine once they saw he hadn’t gotten better. I doubt he walked there himself. Wasn't foul play but I feel there were still other people involved.

Police later found remains that were suspected of being Kerrigan's, but were later proven to be not. He remains missing and both cases remain a mystery. It is no longer believed that the cases are connected as Father Kerrigan was discovered to be on a list of priests allegedly involved in child molestation, although Kerrigan's guilt has not yet been confirmed. It is now believed that Kerrigan's murderer may have been a molestation victim or someone close to a victim, such as a blood relative. The motive for Father Rivera's murder has yet to be determined. However, there has been some speculation that Father Rivera's murder may be connected to another Unsolved Mysteries case, an unidentified man called William L. Toomey who committed suicide in a Boise, Idaho church in 1982. Toomey has allegedly been connected to the murder of another priest, Father Patrick Ryan, although another man, James Ramos, was convicted in that case. However, police have failed to find convincing evidence that Toomey or Ramos participated in Father Rivera's murder.

Body by a little water, after a party, a party where they didn't know a lot of people, no cause of death, the area is searched and a the body is found in the same area later, something with the shoes. Later realized it was a lot like the case on the new season of Unsolved Mysteries on Netflix about Alonzo Brooks. So similar.

@Shahla334 жыл бұрын
@Eye71Opener Stranger things have happened, but your theory is kind of farfetched. It would involve a lot of people and that makes it tougher to pull it off. I think the most logical is that they fed him too much alcohol at the party. They didn't know he wasn't a strong drinker and it went wrong. They hoped he would recover and let him be in the basement. But he didn't recover, he died. Also, still just a theory, but it was a party with alcohol and they lied there was a party at first and that Kurt had been there. Had it not been for the delivery guy they would have stuck to that story. At least Susan had to change her story.

I had a friend who married an American soldier during the war, who fathered her youngest child. He went back to the states, then she lost contact with him. For 20 years, she bugged me to help her find him. For 20 years, nothing but dead ends. The language barrier didn't help. Sometimes, we'd go a year or so without seeing one another, then take up where we left off. Finally, I FOUND HIM. I figured, "Vietnam vet, they have a lot of health issues...maybe?" So, I searched his name and "obituary", and sure enough...he'd passed 6 years earlier. I went to tell her, only to find out she'd gone home to Vietnam for a visit...and died there. The reason they lost contact? He was ALREADY married here, with kids! I've not contacted the family, I think it would do no good. The son is a scam artist, always trying to con people out of money. Gambling addict. On disability somehow, but makes a lot of money under the table, which all goes to gambling instead of his family.

The real crime is, What is a priest doing with 1200 dollars in his wallet?
@DallasCityGurl5 жыл бұрын
Before Credit and debit cards, people used to carry a lot more cash. I remember in the 1970's my dad always had a few hundred dollars on him. The priest was new to town and probably had extra money on him to buy things for his new home to get settled in. Also, a lot of things cost more before we had unfair free trade with china, I remember microwaves costing 1,000 dollars , made in America.
@inkyguy5 жыл бұрын
Amie, debit cards were widely used in 1984 and credit cards were extremely well established. They were not rare or uncommon at all. Carrying over $1,000 on your person wld be unusual for anyone when that was more money than many people made in a month at that time, but especially when your lodging and possibly even meals are already provided at a rectory and you supposedly live an intentionally austere life.

I worked retail starting 1987 and I didn't see the newer type until the mid 1990's. When I say newer, I am talking about ones you could Use at any store to make purchases. Yes Credit Cards were used back then but not by as many people and certainly my family did not use them and I had 10 Aunts and Uncles. Consumer Credit Card debt was no where like it is today. Cash was still mostly used in the 1970's and 80's.. I grew up on military bases and I remember the GI's cashing their whole paycheck and having all that cast to blow in their wallet. My dad was an E7 only and he made 1,600 after taxes. Here’s what I think happened. Kurt was hanging around a newer, shadier crowd. Older kids, maybe in or out of college, with easy access to alcohol and probably drugs, which they no doubt would’ve supplied to minors. But not without payment. The most popular party drug for teens in ‘81 had to have been pot and maybe cocaine. Combined with heavy drinking, especially if you’re not used to drinking a whole lot of hard liquor like Everclear in one go, you can obviously make yourself really sick. Now you’re in danger of alcohol poisoning. So maybe he passes out on a couch, vomits in his sleep, and asphyxiates - all while no one’s paying attention. Maybe he never even makes it out the door to lean on the fence as his friend described. Maybe Susan realizes first what’s happened and freaks out. She has no choice but to come up with a story to avoid getting blamed, after all, there’s Kurt, a minor, who’s died of alcohol poisoning at a party she’s hosting. While she and the others who learn of this figure out what to do, they move Kurt to a cot in the basement, where he’s seen by a witness apparently “sleeping.” Finally, they move him to a secondary location, unknown. But they can’t keep him there forever, they need a way to deflect suspicion. Take him to the ravine that’s already been searched, they won’t think to look twice. Make it look ambiguous, like the work of a serial killer or a random wrong place at the wrong time situation. The shoe was forgotten at the house by accident and later disposed of. And the missing shoe on both boys is coincidental. Strange, but not impossible. Now, the autopsy says he’s been alive for three days after he left the party and before his body was discovered. The question that should’ve been also answered was how much alcohol was found in Kurt’s blood. That changes everything. Because if it’s high, that would indicate he might’ve SURVIVED for three more days, while continuing to drink heavily during that time. Or maybe someone was getting him drunk on purpose. If it’s low, well, maybe he was in a coma for a day or two on that cot in the basement. He’s still breathing, he’s still alive, they check his pulse, but he’s unresponsive. He’s given no medical attention, so he eventually dies in his sleep after three days. They check his pulse, and it’s not there. Shit shit shit. They panic, dump his body at the ravine, fabricate a likely story of him disappearing on his own accord, and stage it as accidental or perhaps the work of a serial killer. I have a feeling the mysterious Franco in the van was involved in the transport of Kurt’s body. Susan and a couple others scrub the place clean of vomit and/or blood and erase any evidence of Kurt ever being there. Why would she lie about a party occurring in the first place rather than admitting there was one? It’s a way unnecessary lie, as many people can confirm there was one. What’s confusing is the friend claiming to see Kurt during his unaccounted for days. Either he made a mistake and saw someone who looked like Kurt or maybe he got the timeline confused and actually saw Kurt before he went missing. Or, even darker but pretty unlikely, he’s making it up to establish Kurt was seen alive to help whoever had moved Kurt’s body. But if that were the case, why would he freely admit he saw Kurt getting into Franco’s van without implementing him? That’s why I think he might’ve made a mistake rather than any malevolent intentions behind the account. We may never know the truth of how it went down. All we can hope is that Kurt is resting easy, his surviving family find some comfort, and those responsible are eventually brought to justice. It’s been so long since Kurt was discovered without much ledes. The case is very cold. I think someone out there knows something, probably more than one person at that, and has just kept quiet all these years out of fear of getting in trouble or were threatened/blackmailed to secrecy. Either way, no one deserves what Kurt went through. No one deserves what his parents and loved ones went through. Seems to me like it was a case of alcohol poisoning and nobody did the right thing out of fear of getting in trouble. But like I always tell my kids, it’s always better to take someone to the hospital, even if they’ve been underage drinking or what have you. Getting grounded is nothing compared to losing a friend. And I get it, in the moment you panic and don’t think clearly, and hindsight is 20-20, but damn. People will be wayyyyy more understanding if you tell the truth and get help for your friend rather than let them sleep it off to avoid punishment. Such a tragic case that I think could’ve been prevented. Poor baby. I hope the truth comes to light soon.

I was on the same thought until the coroner said he hadn't drank too much to die of alcohol poisoning. Plus his friend saw him shortly before he died. If I had to guess, you might be right on the first half; as in he drank too much and was given drugs. It maybe have been he was given the drugs first as a way to calm him down. Cocaine is very addictive and according to the Healthline website it can take days to come down from the effects. Which could explain why 3 days after he disappeared his friend saw him and since stranger. The stranger might have been promising him more drugs to keep him addicted. I think, unfortunately, the missing posters were part of what led to his death. Because I think that stranger in the shop was the dealer/supplier and was now afraid of getting caught. From there he either intentionally gave him too much or laced it with something lethal that would cause his death. I tried to find the full coroner's report but can only find the details as mentioned. Because take River Phoenix, he was healthy too, and had it not been for finding drugs in his system they might now have known his COD. Idk if they even tested Kurt's body for any drugs. Or if in the 80s they had the ability to test like we do today. With the second boys death, Eugene, he was ruled as accidentally falling in. But I find it sus both of them had a shoe missing. It's possible that he was given a drug too and that caused him to accidentally fall. But even if both were accidental, how did a shoe come up missing? I feel like that's something that should be focused on. If there was a killer that did that, it's likely they did it to others.
