There is actually a cobblestone version of the basalt bridge so you can make a cobblestone generator. I built it and i got over a stack of cobblestone after it was done. Thing is.... Pistons can only push up to 12 blocks.

for the piston one have you heard of the piston push limit. its the limit to how many blocks a piston can push. the number is 12.
