Was obsessed with hunter during its run, but only just watched the 2 TV movies they made in the early 2000's. Did they ever explain what happened with London and Alex?

I think he and their young child were killed in an auto accident but it ended up on the cutting room floor or they never filmed it. Too bad one can't get ahold of the script that might tell up what happened.
