I've been pushing this concept for cars for many years, especially since most people are single occupant commuters these days. There's no need for us to drive large, wide cars to work each day, or to take the family sedan to the grocery store for a few items. Part of what's gotten us into trouble with resource depletion is the excesses to which we've become accustom. We don't think twice about driving way more car than we need to drive to work or the store, or to take the kid to her soccer game. We see it happening every day and don't think twice about it. It's about time we gave it a second thought, though. I've driven small cars and/or motorcycles to work for many years (I'm 62 y.o. and retired but have been driving fuel efficient cars since the 1970's). Hell, I had a very nice Yamaha full dress motorcycle for a few years that got 50 mpg and it was great for going to work or the store for a few groceries. Two things need to change for us to give green sources of transportation a real chance: our collective thinking and the attention of large industries to make cars like the Tango the norm, rather than the exception.

I love the Tango I used to watch videos of it here on KZbin 12 years ago. Unfortunately the price was it weakness. Tesla went from the Roadster to the Model S, but Tango was stuck with it's expensive high end model. If they could sell a Tango for $30 000 then it would be very popular as a commuter car thanks to its ability to lane split and park anywhere.

I've wanted one of these since the day I first saw it in a catalog over 15 years ago. If the Electromecanica Solo car can be successful then I don't understand why the Tango can't be. It is a much better car!

such an impressive car less than 2kg per hp in 2005 i think what hurts its sales are the too inconspicuous looks such an exceptional car should look striking, it can easily be weird as long as it gets noticed

I just spotted a weird motorsport Mini in an old rallycross/autocross video from the 60s, called a Mini Sprint. There were 50 of these made I think, they were chopped and channeled 850 Mini´s, looks nuts. Maybe could be a candidate for an Unsung Heroes episode?

Imo, the main problem is the price, I heard it's around 300k USD, with that price, people would just go to hypercar instead. It's way better than luxury motorbike.

This car was featured in some Top Gear book called something like "Coolest Cars Ever" or "Maddest Cars", along with some others that have been in Unsung Heroes before, check it out. Can´t remember the name correctly, but it also had some road-going yellow Le Mans prototype

They should pick this back up these days. Give it only 1 motor instead of 4, reduce the power and hence increase the range and surely you could get a 400+ mile range electric car, for a sensible price.

i unironically would buy one of these if i had the money to. would be perfect for me, as a single man, that sometimes goes to go kart tracks (well, i would need to upgrade to a full track with this one but i digress). if i win on lotto i would definitively get one for me, even if the import costs here on Brazil would be sky high.

I could actually see myselft driving a single seater car like this. Just to get to and from work. I would still take the Jaguar out on the weekend though. Perhaps if someone made something like this again but much cheaper. I'm thinking £10k brand new and reduce the power output a lot to 100hp or so to keep the range high.

Really neat idea and seems like a very fun design. However it is far too expensive with a slow production making it an exclusive car instead of the community car the creator wanted. Next this car is made to lane split.. which is both illigal in some states as well as dangerous. This thing would increase the number of fender benders. If you run a red light and the vehichle that hit you is the equivalent of a large truck to semi. Nascar roll cage or not. The driver will either get crushed or trapped in the vehicle. Finally. Electric. If you even did get this. Imagine the wait time and cost for repairs. Its why tesla cars suck. Electric just doesnt beat traditional gas cars when it comes to cost. So as cool and neat this toy seems woth its tech. It gets a 5/10 from me.
