I had the opposite experience just cops who don't care. Seems to depend on the neighborhood but if you're poor you get the worst cops and rich neighborhoods pay a lot more and get the better ones. As a whole law enforcement in this country isn't focused on serving or protecting. Local cops write tickets. FBI and so forth focused on schemes like infiltrating a gang or something. If you report crime to them they mostly ignore you and won't help them harass you for walking down the street or not using a turn signal which causes people to hate cops and law enforcement. Just like they let murderers and rapists go but lock you up for five years for weed. Now they got the q anon shamon in there for three years basically for trespassing on public property.

Not being respected rather detested by the community that wants to defund you while dealing with crazy people everyday, heavily underpaid while they expect you to be in the line of fire are awful incentives. This is quite literally what people asked for. When you create an environment that is hostile towards those that enforce the law, they will not enforce the law there.
@davidchapman3375 Жыл бұрын
Okay boot licker. 1st: you cannot ever "enforce" a law. A True Law is binding and immutable, requiring nothing to assist its existence nor does it change based upon time of day, imaginary boundary lines, or from the perception of anything within the confines of its parameters. You mean to say when people are not obedient and not punished to your satisfaction or those with your same worldview, then police quit. Moral relativism is wholly immoral and a complete fiction. The idea that 1 man can somehow gain the power or "authority" to create dictates that others must obey or else they have violence of some form or another visited upon them is broken logic and irrational. If no 1 person possess this so called authority, then no group of persons can ever properly delegate that which they do not possess. Further, the required enforcement of this fiction highlights the invalid logic of this concept. If it were real, you wouldn't need to create the illusion of such a thing through coercion and threats of violence if x is not obeyed then...I will send the costumed tools with guns to threaten you or fine you or imprison you for not doing as I say!!! The ego to believe such a thing is "Right" is really hard to fathom. Then you have the word authority itself. The suffix ity is an imaginary noun which is defined as something that can only exist in the realm of the mind. ie like electricity is not actually real but merely a way to describe the transfer of electrons through a conductive material. Authority is used as an inversion and perversion of Truth to foster the pragmatic illusion of control via language manipulation, perception manipulation, and the creation and maintaining of power differential through ones own knowledge of Truth and the ignorance of anyone else. This idea and concept is true , yes, it is not however based in Truth nor what is real, nor what is real and moral. It boils down to the very simple concept of the difference between right vs wrong or moral vs immoral and the ability to discern one from the other via the initiation of action and whether or not that initiatory act causes harm to another person or their property. It's sad that the world is still so very clueless on these concepts and also the reason the govt wants to educate your children ad early as possible.

They are accepting police recruits with felony drug convictions. This low quality of hires will create long term problems.
@thekamotodragon Жыл бұрын
this is absolutely true. I've noticed the number of gross negligent errors made by police on bodycam footage has risen drastically in the last year, and i think it's due to lower hiring standards because the cops in these videos are clearly corrupt people knowingly abusing their power. Previously, like 99% of bodycam incidents were genuinely good cops trying to do the right thing in hard situations and sometimes it doesn't work out. Basically I've been seeing less George Floyd style incidents where the situation was very grey and more Daniel Shaver types of incidents where the cops are clearly in the wrong.

like they are so good anyway? so many lawsuits paid out, so many police making mistakes, so many auditors catching police abusing their power..... it starts from the top, get rid of all the dinosaurs in charge that came up through a corrupt unfair system and start actually caring about people and the communities they serve instead of treating everyone as suspicious, its not surprising no one wants to be a cop, all you ever hear of is them being tyrants and in turn no one likes them anymore...........what kind of person WOULD join the police? not a good person.
@thekamotodragon Жыл бұрын
@@thesquire6352 but you're part of the problem tho, can you not see that? By getting on the hate train with the media and everyone else, you perpetuate more negativity towards and among police, making their work environment worse and fewer good people want to join, making there more likely to be bad incidents. The only way would be to cast them in a positive light again and start uplifting the police force in you want good cops to return, even though most cops are decent, it's just they're portrayed in a bad light and we only see the bad incidents. Unless ofc, you want police to continue going downhill until they no longer exist, then yea keep going on this path. I actually agree that we should try that, get rid of police all together for awhile, that way people can see what it's like without them and then will realize what they were complaining about wasn't a big deal compared to living in a criminal wasteland, they'll beg for them back and then we can move on with our lives.

I'm a police chief in a small town in Alaska. We too are having problems recruiting. If you or someone you know is interested in law enforcement and wants a good paying job, is motivated to enforce laws while working with the community as a member of the community, and have a strong moral compass, look any of us up. Any agency in Alaska has it better than the madness going on in the big cities. Yes, my town may be like Mayberry in the Andy Griffith show, but that's what allows me and my officers to go to work in a place that supports and respects us. Is past use of marijuana (at least once a week but stopping about a year ago) but no other drug use at all an automatic disqualifier? I live in a legal state but have been told that it is still a deal breaker in my area. 2. Does a criminal justice degree matter or would finance/ economics suffice? 3. What is the cost of living like in your area? 4. How should a potential out of state applicant proceed? Would they have to move to Alaska or would the preliminary hiring process be conducted online?

I did 35 years as a cop, retired in 2014. I am so appreciative that I had a great career during the last days of Police work being a very rewarding profession in America. The cities that have destroyed the job are full blown liberal, socialist enclaves that simply do not understand how rapidly their community will disintegrate without a great police force that is actively supported by smart, proven leadership and a population that respects the mission. Im afraid knee jerk politicians will simply add more money to wages as well as dropping professional requirements to get bodies into uniforms. That will fail miserably. Police work is a solemn vocation to most who apply and money is not that important to get the right candidates. My big west coast city went deep blue and you watched it burn every night for almost a year in 2021. Fortunately I fled 1000 miles before that year and found a small city in a deep Red County. Our Police are respected, well compensated (50 person force) and not abused by anyone. There are no openings. Says it all.

Why? Why does a police department have to “win back people’s trust” when we are supposed to fault only bad apples and not the whole bushel? The main issue is actually education. Students are not learning what the rule of law is. In the Rule of Law we learn only the perpetrator is wrong and not the group he/her is part of. The whole police department is not to blame for a small group of individual officers/bad apples abusing powers. The worst thing to ever happen to America is most people believing the lie of Groupism. Groupism is all particular persons are define by the group they are part of and not as individuals. If one person is wrong than the whole group is wrong. We see this all throughout society. The result is tribalism and division between groups of people. Look at all the videos online of members of one group gang beating one or two members of another group like the racial fight videos. The police should not be defunded. The particular bad cops should be prosecuted and put out and the rest of police honored for their hard work.

As a former Infantry Marine who has been overseas a couple times, and having been a police officer for the last 15 + years, the "silent majority" who have sat by and allowing politics and agendas to strip them of their safety, by not paying attention or not participating and pushing back on those sinful politicians tearing away at the fabric of protection for all. Additionally, there is a HUGE lack of leadership at the top of most municipal police departments (Work for a Sheriff, not a Chief) - Chief's are beholden to city managers and city councils (whatever their political agendas are as well, good or bad). Sheriff's are elected, as the answer to their constituents and true stake holders - let that sink in! In addition, the pay and lack of benefits are also causing senior officers who train the younger newer officers to leave, given they understand their true worth. I left for private security world and doubled my salary, get treated accordingly for my experience/service, and I'm not called a racist POS daily anymore. The system broke it self, the US cities will have a hell of time correcting this, you can NOT replace experience and wisdom overnight, the system will not get better for at least another 5 years to a decade, given it takes on average 2 years of training before most officers are on their own. When you don't appreciate what you have, you can't wine about it once it's gone! I pray and hope God keeps everyone safe. If I can impart one bit of advice, learn and understand how your local public safety works, the laws in your state and quit outsourcing your protection/safety to the government, like many of families before us did not do. So, i think the only solution is to force people to see reason by having all police officers leave their positions and go on strike or something for a few weeks/months. By the time they return, everyone would be begging for them back and if they aren't then maybe our society doesn't deserve the privilege of a police force, considering how ungrateful everyone is and how much everyone is seemingly siding with the criminals.
