The sooner we stop burning fossil fuels the better. Dr. Suzuki's message is spot-on and one which needs to be heard by more people. Doug Deep, how long can continue to deny climate change?

Did you want to expand on that? I'm not too sure what you are implying when you say he is irritating. Is it the mannerisms in the way he speaks? Or is it the contents of his speech that has got you so irritated in him? It would be nice to know your reasoning behind that statement...

“All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.” (Arthur Schopenhauer, German Philosopher, 1788-1860) -- In this talk Dr. David Suzuki tries to arouse the Australian public to move from stage one and two (denying and opposing the truth about climate change) to stage three (actually doing something about it). Good luck, David!

It is harder to get every major governments on earth to act together to completely reform the entire system. I believe, considering selfishness as a human nature, a major trigger event which is big enough to concern everyone is needed, a event to trigger the very life instinct of humanity, again one of the human natures for people to act.

I remember reading an article about David Suzuki in Reader's Digest a few years ago. In that article David Suzuki stated that he and his colleagues were laughing at all the things they thought to be true 50 years ago. Doesn't it make sense then that some day we will all be laughing at what he thinks to be true now?

Max, my dear friend, you conveniently forgot to mention, that Dr Suzuki's PhD is in Zoology and his BA (honors) degrees is in Biology. Each of his 28 honorary degrees are in Biology or similar disciplines. He has no qualifications in climatology or related discipline. The question he was asked in Australia related to the mechanism used by the IPCC to measure rising temperatures. Mr Suzuki stated that he was not aware of such mechanisms, which was THE most basic of info. He is a dribbler.

He's sharing (pretty much verbatim) what people who DO have PhDs in climatology have been saying for years. But now it isn't true because it came through his lips?

In 1971, I created a democratic communal society with no personal cars. My coworker said he liked the idea of a democratic cooperative state, but he was not giving up his car. This is what the oil companies know. No one is giving up their cars. Therefore, climatic change is ignored.

Everything is true but hard to achieve, with globalisation, reforming the current economic system is almost impossible. Especially when it comes to sacrifice living quality, just an example if patrol is 100% more expansive, everyone will start to complain and a new government that promise to reduce it would probably win the election. Moreover, the economy is now sort of dependent globally, it is hard to make the first move while other countries are still holding back,

Just like Joline said, He never claimed to be a climate expert. He is a prominent figure in the scientific community and He is spreading the important findings of his peers. It may be basic to you, the majority of Australian's however are scientifically and economically illiterate. That is why we have elected a government that is axing the climate change commission, clean energy fund, carbon tax and the mining tax.

I think our attitudes need to change, but we are all victims of conditioning ! How bad is this ? I remember being taught the "junk food song" when I was about in school, very young. A nice man came to our school and taught us a little song that went like this...a pizza hut, a pizza hut, kentucky fried chicken and a pizza hut...mcdonalds, mcdonalds, kentucky fried chicken and a pizza hut. Holy shit, we have been brainwashed by corporations, get to them young and get them for life !!! And our..

Suzuki is not claiming to be a climate scientist however, to make a point -there are plenty of Politicians “managing” portfolios that they have no qualifications in. It is the environment (which includes aspects that are studied in Biology and Zoology) that is being impacted. When you no longer have clean air to breathe or clean water to drink and no food on the table as crops also fail what will you be saying then? Those material things that people today are valuing, will not be any good.

When other companies saw how successful they were they copied the blueprint for them down to even the colour scheme. Thats too easy, lazy and is leading to sameness. No innovation. I think these are some ideals we should strive for, just like environmental concerns, environment comes first before profit. Each project should be approved by an environmental committee before any construction happens. So they can consider the damage to the environment and can be done in a safe way. No dumping..

Its just that people are so desensitised to porn, its becoming so normal, that pornographic acts are seeping there way into peoples lives. I think we need to ban porn on the internet. Police it. You wouldn't allow your child to buy a porno magazine would you ? So why give them a phone or tablet with internet access ? You can still buy magazines, buy videoes if you want to. I just mean making it alot harder to access adult content, for free is a problem too. Free adult sites are wrong. Music..

..is free is wrong, so is movies and tv being free. Otherwise there is no value given to the work. That is a shallow life, and gives no incentives for artists to create great work. Same with patents too, they must be respected. Intellectual property is an important part of innovation. So we don't have people copying brilliant ideas and people are rewarded for their efforts. Like the ipad, and mac designs are copied even though they were the first to make them in a way that made them useful.

Yeh if we don't accept science, experts in how the world works, who do you trust, politicians ? ; ) I hate how many unfair things are happening now like we have turned from a mostly democratic country, capitalist country to corporatism, same with the US. Why do politicians allow corporations to decide what is right for people ? It's wrong !!! And if the Australian government wants to save money why are we giving politicians a lifetime continuous wage ? All senators, prime ministers...

I've always been shocked about the profound hatred Suzuki has towards the human race. Comparing humans to fruit flies! Always complaining that there is too much human beings on the planet destroying the environment. Yet he has 5 children. When you look carefully at the lifestyle of those financing and promoting the global warming propaganda ( Al Gore, the British Royals, Suzuki to name a few) it is as if what they are preaching does not apply to them.
